Have you ever met someone who hates animals, dogs, cats whatever. Do you ever wonder what makes them hate them?(besides the obvious) And why some people are so drawn to to them and others dislike them so much. Do you think there's something about dogs for example that scares people. Not everyone who likes dogs has ever had one. Have you thought about the real reason you like or hate them. (Don't say cause their cute.) Or you dislike them cause you have to pick up poop. There seems to be also cat people, and dog people, I like both, but am a dog person. What does that mean to you, and what is a dog person, really? Sorry, I'm thinking again.....Humour me and think about it and give your opinion.
that is a good question ,never have really put much thought in to it. i am a dog person my self i quess i was always around them and not cats. i have had bloodhounds, irishsetters, german shepards, and now that i am married and mother of two boys i want them to grow up with some sort of respect for dog any type of animal for that matter, i now have a 9 year old min pin and yes i am one of those people that have apuggle i dont have one to be in fad. i have not been around cats so idont know much about them.
I can understanding not wanting an animal because you don't like the responsibility. Maybe you don't like changing a litter box or picking up poop or having fur all over. Maybe you don't like a wagging tail to greet you when you come home and a best friend... I don't know.
I love alsorts of animals , i think animals understand you more than what some humans do , a dog will always come and comfort you when your sad a purring cat takes your strees's away . I 've always had animals around me couldn't imagine my life with out them,I was the type of girl when I was little that would aproach any animal didn't think about what they would do to me . I would play for hours with a dog i would find around yes had a few nips now again, but always went back for more.I would rather play with animals when I was younger than play with the local kids , my mum use to call me a right dr dolittle. I can't see how any one could say thay hate animals , they give you so much pleasure and happiness
Yah the trates of a killer are sexual problems, Mean to animals, wets the bed (more then most kids with out having a bladder problem) and a few others there are 15 in total i just cant rember them all.
I cant see how anyone wouldnt like animals. My friend hates snakes. I dont understand that snakes totaly rock. Another girl I know hates chickens. Why hate a chicken? They just walk around and act like a chicken. It makes no sence to me.
I've found that a lot of people that "hate" dogs and/or cats have been taught that hate.
They have heard how digistung and filthy and stinky animals are, how danagerious and bad they are, unsantary etc etc. Often they are people who have a serious revulsion to enviorments they cant control. The type of people who don't open their car or house windows EVER becuase who wants outside air?
The funny thing is they may be gross dirty people with tons of trash in their back yard and their house reeking of mold, but they will feel as iof they are a better person then you because they don't have animals in their home and dog hair under the sofa (looks at the futon and the little dune of hair blown under it)
I remember watching Wife Swap or one of those shows, and the mother kept saying "Houses are for people, not animals".. because the family she switched with had 2 dogs and some cats sleeping on the couches. So she made them lock them in the basement. They were sooooo sad.
I felt even more sad for that woman. For not knowing the love an animal can show you. She was a complete clean freak and didn't want animal hair in her house. What a grump. But I don't think she SHOULD own an animal, so maybe it's better that way.
I like chickens, their cool, and I like to touch snakes. I like all animals, except a lot of the human ones.
People who don't like animals make me nervous and uncomfortable, I feel like I have nothing in common with them, and their looking down on me with all my animals and thinking there's something wrong with me.
I do think that a lot of it is learned as Icy said, like racism is. I have a hard time with people who don't like the outdoors either, that seems so unnatural to me, they freak if they get mudd on their shoes, and I've got mud flecks up to my knees and muddy paw prints on my butt. I had a childhood friend who just hated animals, after awhile we just drifted apart, we were unable to understand how the other felt, she would recoil whenever my dog just came near her, it was really strange.
Just yesterday at work, there was a news report on the tv about a puppy coming up missing and a reward offering for it. Someone took their puppy to get it spayed and somebody else came and picked it up like they were the owner and stole it. A guy I work with said "A puppy. What do people want dogs for? They aren't good for nothing." I just zipped my mouth. Not because his statement didn't make me mad. It did. I bet it was directed at me in some way because he knows I have 4 dogs. I let it go because this person has proven time and time again that he is an inconsiderate, ignorant fool. He likes to sit in the breakroom and insult people. He calls women "broads" and is just plain nasty to listen to. He is in his early 20's and has already been left at altar once. Gee, could it be because of his caring, social self? Maybe he needs a dog to teach him how to care about something other than himself. Better yet, no. He would probably be the type to come home and give it a swift kick for absolutely no reason. I don't know why some people don't like animals...but you just have to wonder about what makes them like that. I just don't trust them for some reason.
Personally I trust a dog's instinct. They know if you are an animal lover, and when they will not have anything to do with someone it makes me wonder about that person. They are a good judge of character. I believe people that don't like animals sometimes can have some serious issues going on inside them.
I agree with sandysbabies.....I never met a dog or most animals for that matter that I didnt like...but people??? If someone comes to my house they know that the dogs are here and if theydont ike it ..they dont have to come... My kids were raised with great danes and my brother in law is not an animal lover....He used to tell my hubby that the dogs were going to eat the kids....maybe that why the pups always growled at him
excellent topic. I have experienced both worlds. When I was younger, I was terrified of dogs. Not really sure why but I was. Maybe it was because I thought they were vicious and ready to snap anytime. I eventually grew out of it and learned to love dogs for all the amazing things they are capable of (body structure, ability to learn, and especially how they know what to do to get what they want, lol). My mom on the other hand was always petrified of the things. She forbid if I ever bring one home. Mind you I am 21 years old. So, one day before Christmas I gathered up enough courage to just bring one home. My mom flipped at first. But by the second or third day she really warmed up to him. Now when she calls home to check up on me and my little sisters, the first thing she asks is "how's Champ? Did you feed him? Did you take him out? He loves her too, first thing in the morning after I take him out, he runs to my mom in the living room and just sits next to her, and she loves it!!!!
So, in my opinion, those who hate dogs must have never been around one or had one bad experience with them. O and never forget the power of influence. I'm sure you guys know where I am headed with that (No point making a long story even longer)....
i do not know why people do not like animals. i dont know what there is not to like.
i do not know what first drew me to animals either. seems i was just born this way. there wasnt one specific incident or one particular animal that made me love them ... it was always just who i was ... ever since i was just a tiny tot.
i am equally a dog and cat person. i couldnt imagine living without either one. when i had lost my one cat i swore i would never get another one because i hated litter box detail. well that lasted a whole couple months and i was on a search for a new kitty. and then after i got one kitty i went and got another one. the dogs i have now are kinda like cats in their personality. so maybe i am really a cat person. i dont know ... but i do know i will never be without at least one of each.
I love all animals but I don't see myself ever owning a snake; perhaps because there is no interaction between a snake and its owner and also because of the feeding requirements of a snake, such as having to feed it mice or rats, I'd feel sorry for the mice and rats, especially the pet variety.
Some people may not have been raised with animals around them so hence they may not know what they're missing or if their parents regarded animals as unclean then they may grow up with the same principles. My brother and I were raised with animals but we have completely different viewpoints; I adore animals esp. dogs and couldn't imagine my life without them yet my brother views them as unclean and disease ridden; he has pinpointed that both cats and dogs have a habit of licking their backside; I disagree with that as I have never caught my dogs doing that, instead they tend to rub their bottom on the grass if they feel that it isn't clean enough; my brother also cannot stand dog/cat hair around the place so I guess in some instances it is an individual thing.
I feel uncomfortable with people that literally hate animals as I feel that there has to be something wrong with them and I don't tend to make friends with people that have that attitude.
i do not trust someone who has no warm feelings for animals. not wanting the responsibility, i can understand. but outright not liking animals, i just dont trust that type of person. i cannot imagine life without those crazy furballs. i cried when we left for vacation and had to leave them behind.
My brother went through this stage were animals were a waste of time a money. He picked on me when I got my cat and My hampster and my fish. The fish was the final straw I said "you idiot how much time and money does a fish take? Not much you feed the damn thing and a thing of food is $2 but it will last forever." Finaly he got over that and totaly love animals.
I hate dog hair under suttf or on the floor. When i sweep and mop Im always suprised on how much hair i pick up even through you cant see it untill its in a pile. It drives me bonkers trying to figure out why there is so much hair and why i couldnt see it befor.
My grandmother hated all animals. My parents and aunts and uncles all loved them so she learned to tolerate them. When I got Nannook, my giant Alaskan Malamute, she fell in LOVE with him. She loved how gentle and intelligent he was and how, even when he was a puppy and he had a bunch of energy, he was always very careful around her. She love him so much that when my family had to move from Washington she basically told my aunt (she lives with my aunt and uncle) that they were taking my dogs, no if's and's or but's. My malamute passed last summer and she was just as sad as if a family member passed away. Being a strict Catholic she always said animals have no souls and dont' go to heaven. After he died she was talking to my sister and said God would make an exception for Nannook. Now I have a Queensland Heeler pup. (my aunt and sister both got puppies at the same time, a collie and a siberian husky mix) and of the three of them my grandmother loves my little heeler. She's also more loving towards other animals too. I dont' know exaclty what it was about Nannook that changed her. There were a lot of people who werent' dog lovers who loved him. I guess at 155 lbs there's plenty of dog to love.
