Yesterday my boyfriend and I stopped by my cousin Shelly's house. After being there for 20 mins she asked if we wanted to go down to her sister in-laws house for a bit with her. As I walked in to the house there was this cute little chihuahua (sp?) standing there waiting for me to pick him up so I started playing with him (remind you I am a big dog lover). Anyways as I was playing with him Carly asked if I had any dogs of my own and I said ohh yeah we have 6 beagles and then that is when she said we have a beagle too.. So I asked where he was? He was out back not thinking anything about it I walked out there and nothing came running to me so I started to walk back behind the house and there he was OHH my gosh they had him tied out there with this little a** chain and dog house. As I started to walk towards him he was so scared and barking so I bet down and started to sweet talk him. Soon he seen that I was not going to hurt him and walked towards me and that's when I seen how skinny he really was.. You could see all of his ribs it just was sick.. So being the beagle lover I am I started to check him out. There was stool all over the place and I guess the 2 bowl's that where all dirty was what they were putting his food and water is when they did feed him. So I grabbed the bowls and walked into the house.. Everyone was looking at me as I was cleaning and filling the bowls. When I sat the food down for Buddy it did not even take 2 mins before all the food was gone. So god know when the last time the poor thing had anything to eat. Shane my boyfriend then came out there and that is when I lost it I started to ball my eyes out asking if we could take him with us.. Shane then said we cannot just take there dog.. LOL I was going to take him I didn't care what they would have said.. If they loved or wanted the poor thing he would not be out there by himself and as skinny as he is.. Well after being out there for over a hour we walked back into the house and I asked them why they had him tied out there like that and Carly said he is my sons dog. Someone gave him to him and he is just to much to be in the house.. HER SON IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD.. Anyways on are way back home Shane and I were talking about Buddy and we are going to try and get him from them. If they give him up we are going get him back to good health and try and find him a good home where someone is going to love and care for him like they should.. And if they don't give him up to us I am going to call the animal shelter and see what they can do. But I hope they just give him to us. Wish me luck..
Sorry this is so long.

that is heartbreaking. i wouldnt let it go either. someone has to take up for that poor dog. right now it looks like all he has is you. i would talk to them and if they dont give him up, tell him that for the safety and health of the dog, you will have to report them . and follow through with it. my neighbors had a stray pitbull show up at their door. they chained her up in their back yard and called the humane society. they did not put any food or water out for her and chained her where there was no shelter. i took food and water over everyday and moved her to where she could get into their shed. when i asked her why she didnt feed her, she said "all i have is catfood". i told her it would have been better than no food at all and she shouldnt have chained it up and then not provide any food, water and shelter. some people just dont give a darn. this was on a thursday and the humane society didnt show up until late monday. that poor dog would have been tied up out there for four days like that. gggrrrrrrr
LPN.. Yes the pups did great.. They are all health as can be and in their forever homes.. I did keep one female.. I named her Daisy.. She is getting so big.. And let me tell you she is a spoiled little brat most of the time.. Here is some pics of the puppies and Daisy now
Thats great I would love to see some pics.. Wish you the best of luck.. I will also share some pics when I go get Buddy no matter if they give him to me or if I have to take him I am going to get him..
Well I talked to Carly and she said she is not giving her sons dog up.. WTF.. So now I am going to offer money and if that does not work I am going to call animal control and if they do take him from them I am going to ask if there is anyway I could care for him.. Do you think that would work or do they not do that kind of stuff??
That little Daisy has the sweetest little face. She almost has an angelic look. Very sweet little dog. As far as the other little dog, please don't give up on the poor little thing. That makes me sick to my stomach. What do people mean doing a poor, defendless, helpless, animal like that. Looks like to me she could be fined for animal cruelty. I would give a rat's who she was kin too.
Even if I lived 10 lifetimes I could never understand how people can be so cruel. Why on earth do they want to keep a dog that is chained up all the time and barely given a decent feed? This is so upsetting!
This dog depends on you to speak up for him and I know that you will continue to do whatever is required to ensure that he ends up with someone that will love him and interact with him and most importantly FEED him properly.
I do hope that it all works out well. It seems like your only option is to speak to an animal control person but do emphasise that you are prepared to foster the dog and that once you have improved his health you will try to find him a loving home and be sure to follow this up as some shelters are known to take in dogs and promptly put them down without giving them a chance at being adopted. Good luck :)
kmarie...what a touchie sittuation...since they are claiming this is the childs dog..you might want to deal directly with the kid...offer him a new bike or some thing...he might not be able to resist..you can expect some resistance and some turmoil in the family, which is very sad and totally unfair....darn shame you will probably be seen as an extreemest and trouble maker....if this happens...im so very sorry...but, think your doing the right thing for the right reasons....dont compromise your values...
