Cassandra was just being honest, she did say "some", she was just describing her experience with some of the "country folk" she's come across. There is definitely good & bad all over. She even said that.
That's really sad Cass, I would have prefered you didn't share that. I'm from "the country". I grew up in town but moved out here with my husband. It's a rash generalzation to refer to all people who live in the country, or red necks, on a whole as stupid, careless, and once again stupid. But you said some, and that is right on. Some of the people out here are freaking sick and insane. Let's shoot an animal instead of having it humanely put down. Saves us a vet visit. I for one am sick of it and can't wait to get away for the filthy, crazy, and cruel scrubs in this town. But like everyone else has said, sick people come in all shapes, forms, colors, and sizes.

Well,Cassandra, you seem to have joined this forum and jumped into the manure pile with both feet....first criticizing peoples' spelling abilities and now catagorizing country people as ,what it sounds to me, to be the lower species on the intelligence scale. I posted here as a new member to get some help identifying a stray dog. The people were for the most part very helpful and compassionate; I didn't expect to have a mensa group answer me. Maybe this is not where you should be. Animal lovers don't all have doctorates and above adverage IQs. Isn't this supposed to be a place to share questions, concerns and stories about pets and wildlife and not a place to try to bring everyone down? If you can't read a post, ignore it and if you don't like country folks then move to NYC where I'm sure everyone is kind, loving and respectful of the animal world. I hope you don't mind if I have my hair in curlers as I write this...or do you have something against them too? Perhaps terrificpetsI'mintelligent.com for one group and terrificpetsIlovemypetdon'tgiveadamnaboutyou.com for the other...I'll join the second even tho I can spell and don't smell like manure.
What the hell is wrong with some of you? Lest we forget that this is a public forum and we should all be allowed to express our opinion without being torn to shreds!!
As for you teacup, I truly believe a new job is in order because quite frankly you suck at your present one; you are trying and I emphasise "trying" to psychoanalyze me and you are a dismal failure. Here is your post:
There's definitely something wrong with this child, and we all should forgive ourselves for overlooking her. whenever a child speak of negatively all the time or always wanting to bring up something that is negative it shows low self esteem. or a sad sad child hood. the more i read her thread the more i feel sorry for her she's hurting deep down inside and fighting for love and dont know how to show it I know what I'm talking about I work with abuse kids, behavior kids also.so the more I read her post the more I see anger building up in her . please members when ever you see where she decide to talk about something negative on here please just talk about dogs or something positive. lets help her she's reaching out for help. dont you see it.
NOW, what entitles you to judge me simply because you disagree with my opinions? I have NOT been abused as a child (much to your chagrin) and I am certainly NOT hurting in any way or form and if you truly believe that I am reaching out for help then I am forced to think that you are either delusional or paranoid!!
For one particular poster that says that I disappear when things begin to heat up - all I can say to that is BULLSHIT because in actual fact I have continued to have a say but it seems that I cannot win irrespective of what I do; if I continue then I am accused of stirring the pot and if I decide to let it go then I am accused of lying low - how pathetic...one is damned if they do and damned if they don't.
When I first started THAT thread about spelling and grammar I was advised that if a certain post doesn't make sense to me to simply ignore it, well then I guess that the same advice should be taken up by those that don't like what I have to say.
I am not a TROLL and that word is being thrown around far too easily; it seems like it's the common trend to use that as an excuse as soon as you don't agree with someone's opinion as a way of scaring them off and I guess I do apologise for not being easily frightened.
Perhaps I should have worded the title to this particular thread a little differently. I am merely talking about MY own experience about the country and so far it hasn't been a positive one; sure there are some definite plusses to being here, i.e. the wide open space, the fresh country air, the wide open spaces, the fresh country air.....I think I am stuck because I really cannot think of much else. The prices are apalling, things are more expensive than in the city, tradespeople charge far far more than city workers because they know that the competition is pretty much non existant so that they know that they can get away with it, country people are very much set in their ways and are not prepared to move with the times and can be rude and obnoxious and YES I have found them to be cruel in their approach towards animals. All that I have said happens to be the truth and I apologise for those country people that don't fit this particular bill but lest we forget that I am only talking about my experiences NOT the entire universe!! What was I supposed to do? sugarcoat everything? comeon and grow a second skin for pete's sake (for want of a better word).
Farmers DO NOT view animals as pets and that has been my experience to date and it has left a bitter taste in my mouth, and although I have only been here for 18 months I truly do not think that it takes a decade to sus things out. Of course there are cruel individuals in the city but I haven't come across people that have openly told me, in a defiant manner, that they proceeded to shoot their chihuahuas simply because they didn't want to give them away, or this other bastard who proceeded to drown his chihuahua because she nipped him yet never nipped another person, etc. etc. They are so defiant, almost proud of what they have done and I am not about to apologise if that doesn't sit comfortably with me. ONCE AGAIN, these are my experiences and that isn't to say that every single country individual is callous and cruel but yes, in my opinion, farmers are rough around the edges; my humble apologies to the ones that are the exception to the rule.
Whats sad Cassandra....Is that I've read some of your suggestions you have gave other posts and you sound like you gave pretty good advice,so I know behind your defensive posterior, theres a pretty knowledgable person . You should concentrate on helping others out (because like I said your good at that) and leave the defensive line to the Steelers!
"NOW, what entitles you to judge me simply because you disagree with my opinions? I think everyone here has taken what Cassandra has said way too personally . Lighten up , and if you don't like what she says just ignore her threads. Don't respond. I haven't up until now only because it goes on and on. Alright already.
"I can only hope that hunters of any sort, even trophy hunters, end up with a malfunctioning shotgun that backfires, only then they may get the opportunity to sample some of what they have been dishing out!!
NO I will not detract my comment that I would love it if their shotgun would backfire; please let me know if you hear of such an "incident" taking place in the very near future, lol."
Which, in itself, I could have probably let go and chalked up to a sheer passion for the topic. But then she followed that with...
"Your hands and all the hands of hunters are bloodied and all I can say is "GOD damn you!!"
Hard to let that one go, I mean how much more personal can ya get than damning someone?
At any rate, I will no longer be posting to Cassandra. Therefore, I won't be a party to keeping these "flaming posts" alive...

My father-in-law is a big grain farmer.2000 acres total. Lots of grain bins, several tractor trailers to haul his grain, lots of equipment. Trades it in for new every several years. Not a back woods redneck just calling himself a farmer is what I am getting at.He use to also raise beef cattle. The farm is acroos the road from mee down a long drive thru the fields. Our home was surrounded on 3 sides with pasture. Now and then I would see an injured cow, walking with a bad limp. I would pester my husband for days wanting him to get his father to have a vet come out and look at the cow. That never happened. The cows would either get better on their own or would go down and couldn't get back up. Once they are down for about 3 days, then he'd call somebody who would come shoot it and load it up and take it. I would have my husband put a pail of water down in front of the cow until then. They were well fed and had good shelter from heat and cold. But vet care, never. He had 2 bird dogs who were kept in a pen. They only came out of that pen to hunt. When hunting season was over, they were forgotten. No vet care for them either. They lived on Ol'Roy dogfood. 1 has since died. He also had 3 labs that would run free on the farm. All males. He could not understand why they fought so much with one another causing bad injuries sometimes. I had my husband explain to him that neutering would really help this issue. Forget that. He got rid of one. The other is now living in the dead bird dogs pen and one runs free. They have never seen a vet and never will. They are farm animals. If something happens to one, he'll just get another from ol' Johnboy down the road. They all look skinny to me. Probably lot of worms. Needless to say, I do not have any fond feelings for my in laws. They are smart people and money is not an issue. They just look at dogs in a different way. It disgusts me. There are other farmers around here as well. Seems to be pretty much the norm to treat the animals like this. And as far as all the farmers I've met so far, they are not very nice people. They are rude and mean and cuss like crazy. None would take kindly to any "suggestions" on better pet care. Unfortunately, our SPCA laws regarding farm animals is pretty much non-existent.
Your Text, Dialectized (redneck) ah have been most disappointed in th' attitude of SOME country varmints - an' ah w'd like t'emphasise th' wo'd SOME, on account o' thar is fine an' bad in ev'ry co'ner of th' wo'ld, cuss it all t' tarnation. Ennyway, back t'th' subjeck. As an example ah will outline 2 diffrunt incidents an''d value yer opinion Th' majo'ity of farmers is cruel an' thet is a fack. It is impostible t'be a farmer an' not be cruel, face up t'reality

Cassandra you need to lay off of teacup she ,unlike you is a nice person and she always sees the good in people to bad she didnt find any in you but she is only trying to help you . You seem to need it.
lol..pope...you made my night...yes...it seems SHE can say the other word for cow manure...and she has said the GD words...which i find offensive BTW...but...you know what...one of the mods will eventually handle things..wait and see...
but you are so right..city folk abuse and county folk abuse is all the same..abuse no matter what your location...sad isnt it..
perhaps the difference between country and city people is that country people may be more open about what they get up to, city people may be a bit more sly, who knows;
cassandra post #9 ******* if "the " is meant singular an in singular reason then i dissagree. THE (biggest difference between the two is geographical location. one lives in the city one lives in the boondocks :) they are all human the same. perhaps SOME people are inhumane but we all have blue bood. there is not a difference between the 2. p.s. yes blood is blue, as blood hits oxygen it turns red. :) but this isnt a science class. its a PET forum. **************************************
