I have a litter of puppies due in a month. A couple had bought one from me years ago. They have since moved out of this state. They will be buying two of these puppies. I will have to ship them. I have access to Delta and Continental Airlines. Which of these two is better, and why? I have only shipped a puppy once and I had to use Delta because that was all the buyer had available. It was spring, not too hot, not too cold so I was comfortable with it. I have had 4 shipped in, usually having to go with the airline the sender was nearest. The longest flight has always been under 4 hours and always a direct flight. These people also have access to both airlines so I would like to go with the best one. By best, I don't mean cheapest. I want the safest one for my pups. Any opinions?
I use Delta for my Newfie pups, I've never had a problem with the service or flight. Our hub is out of Cincinnati and is climate controlled, the employees at that hub are very knowlegable and friendly. The fares are all about the same $$$ in the U.S., even though you said that wasn't an issue. I have never used Continental, though, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Hope this helps.
just wanted to add that continental offers excellent service for alot less than the other airlines. we were going to buy a pup from a breeder in pennsylvania last year and it would have been shipped to washington state via continental. cost .99.00
From my experience I can say that Continental is great.
I must have called the live animal desk about 10 times and tracked the airway bill to check on my sugar gliders. When I got there to pick them up, their shavings hadn't even been disturbed and that was flying from Florida to Maryland.
The people who work there are really nice and they had alot of questions for me about the gliders. It felt sincere that they cared.
Don't know anything about shipping puppies but my cousin was a pilot for continental for a long time before going into the engineering end of it. His wife is still a flight attendant and it is an excellant company. Don't think you would have a thing to worry about. good luck on which ever airline you choose. I would be picky too.
When I received my dog from the states, the lady used Delta. They were great. They let you know what is going on, times they will be arriving and where, etc. Very informative. They took very good care of my boy too. He arrived safely, had his cage cleaned, and had fresh ice in his water dish.
