I am working on a science fair project for my middle school and I am trying to determine if dogs are right handed or left handed like adults. If anyone would like to help me I would really appreciate it, if they could just tell me the name of your dog and if they use they shake with their right paw or left paw. I would really appreciate it. I am trying to get the results from 500 dogs. I have a dog of my own but she does not have to many freinds.
Also, I think there was a disussion on this forum a while back (probably September 2005 or so - if they go back that far) where they discuss different ways of telling if your dog is right or left pawed. If you search for it, it might give you some additional information for your project. good luck.

Do you think it has more to do with which paw is asked for first in the first place or which side your hand is held out? Cause if you Train a dog to use his right paw for stuff, he will likely hold out that paw first. If your child is right handed, and you keep putting the pen in the left, he will still vear off and use the right hand.
