I am a Christian and I believe the Bible teaches we are made up of body, soul, and spirit. The soul houses are feelings, senses, sight, touch, smell. The body is what the soul is encased in. Its what people see everyday when they look at us. Our spirit is the real you. What is inside. The Bible teaches flesh and blood cannot enter into Heaven. Thats why we have to be changed. Our spirit is what goes into eternity. Personally, I do not believe they have a spirit like us. The Bible does say the lamb will lay down by the lion, so there will be animals in Heaven. I just don't know. Only God knows. I would love for mine to be with me too.
Wasn't it Billy Graham that said it would make Heaven that much more Heaven to have his cherished pet with him. The picture showed this large dog looking out the window. Almost looked like a Giant schnayzer. (black)
When I look into one of my guys eyes I know they have a soul...or when Ive had to send one to Rainbow Bridge the last look they give me tells me that they will be waiting. It's how I choose to look at life ...
Share a little story. Growing up, some religious people came to our door. My grandmother was polite so she listened. Even dragged us to their church a few times. We sat, read their literature.
Then a few months down the road, the animals have no soul conversation came up. My grandmother was literally taken aback. She said that if animals weren't up in heaven than she didn't want to go either. They argued back and forth for a while, but finally my grandma gathered the courage to say that this wasn't working out and for them not to come back. You can imagine my relief as a child because these particular folks didn't believe in holidays either :)
I think animals have as much 'soul' as humans, either all living things have a soul or none. That would just make sense. Plus, eyes are the window to the soul. When you look in to an animals eyes you can tell. It is obvious to me, but those are just my beliefs.
Duchess, that is kind of what I am saying. Either you have to think all living things have souls or none. 'To me' which is all I can answer for on this question, you can't pick and choose which things do or do not have a soul.
Like my dog/cat has a soul, but not the cow I just ate or the chicken. I guess I like more of the Native American way where everything is connected, and have spirits.
I definitely believe that animals have souls. Even more, animal souls are not tarnished like the souls of humans. Animals are of pure heart. I most certainly believe that the pets I have had are waiting for me in Heaven.
Actually according to the Bible, animals will be judged when they get to the millenial kingdom, just as man will, and they will be accounted for every action.
The harmonious relationship between man and animals will be restored in the millennial kingdom. (Isaiah 11:6-9)
God created the animals and said they were good (Genesis 2:25)
God keeps record of every animal that has ever lived. (Luke 12:6)
Animals came under the curse when man sinned, but will be freed from the curse through Christ. (Romans 8:20-22; Colossians 1:20 and Acts 3:20)
So, as a Christian, I firmly believe animals DO have souls and we will see them again in Heaven. And if it boils down to it, I believe more animals will be in Heaven than humans. But then again, I don't believe in Hell.

I think if we have one so do animals. Look at your dog. That dog loves you as much if not more then you love it. Look at elephants they mourn there dead and burry them. Look at bunnys if you bond 2 bunnys and one dies the other will usualy die soon just like an old couple. Animals are not much diffrent then we are. they feel pain they will get depressed they love. We are nothing but animals ourself.
I dont know for sure if we have a soul but I think if we do then animals do to. It wouldnt make sence other wise.
Alot of people say something about we were made in gods likeness so thats why we have a soul and animals dont. But what if that was means that we look like god?
I also have to add that the rainbow bridge thing scares me. growing up I killed 2 animasl. The first was a bird I was about 2 and it had seed on his face well My mom was always grabing my nose to make me blow and i though it was a booger and grabed his beek and did the wiggle thing and ended up breaking his neck. I rember blowing his nose but not killing it My dad filled me in on the rest when I got older. Then another time I found a stray cat and tied it to a poll. I didnt want it to leave because i knew some guys were going around killing cats and i could bring it in with me because my Ex step dad hates cats and will kill them. So i made a leash tied it to the poll and ran inside to get it some food. I couldnt find anything i though a cat would eat so i ran to the gas station across the street and bought milk and hot dogs. When i got back I found the cat dead. It had walked around the poll under the table (it was a shed thing we used as a club house) around the legs and ended up strangling to death.
The first I was young and didnt know beter. The 2nd was me trying to do something good and it ended bad. But they say on the rainbow brige all animals you have been around will be there wating and if you hurt them they will hurt you. I killed those 2 animals. I didnt mean to kill them but I did kill them. That scares me. I feel bad enough knowing I killed them (i fell bad when I eat meat too im a nut case)but to know they will be wating for me after I die scares me.

I'm not sure of the 'pure heart' thing, as many species of animals will 'murder' and even 'rape' each other just as humans do. Dolphins and chimpanzees come to mind. Intraspecies infanticide is extremely common in the animal kingdom. Because it is instinct, does that make the animals that do it pure of heart?
I dont know if animals have souls or not. I try not to think about it honestly.
