On New Years eve I got my lil' Pocket Puggle Elly! She is the best dog I have ever known.
I read about all these people pissed off at people buying "muts" !
She is perfect for me. She doesn't have the breathing problems most Pugs do, and doesn't wander or howl either.
I am a runner and she is perfect for running with me, and small enough to live in my apartment as well.
She hardly cries, begs for food... She just wants to make you happy.
I had her potty trained, taught how to sit and laydown the first day I got her.

In my experience they are very smart, loveable pups!
I am curiouse though to know what the difference if any is in a pocket puggle vs. a regular size puggle.

The people I got her from said that the Pocket Puggles get max 15 pounds and the reg get up to 20 ?

Anyone know what justifies its category?

What the heck is a "pocket puggle"? I know the puggle part is a mutt, but the pocket part? I hope you didn't buy this dog thinking it was going to stay small. Both pugs and beagles are not what I would consider a small dog. A chi or a properly bred pom is small.

Sorry...Im in disbelief. I cant believe people are so stupid. A pocket puggle? Hahahahahahaha. Im glad you are happy with your pocket puggle. omg, do you think there is a such thing as a "pocket puggle"????? please tell me no.

and btw, I have a regular old "puggle" so dont tell me im against mixed breeds cuz im not. But I know that my dog isnt a breed she is just a pug mixed with a beagle.

edit: and btw, my "puggle" was supposed to stay around 18lbs too and guess how much she weighs. 31 lbs.

You run with your "pocket puggle"? Does your pet turtle jog along beside you as well?

Your dog will probably grow up to be about 30 lbs. If indeed a very small pug and beagle were used, the least it'll probably weigh is in the 20-25 lb. range.

People are lying about all types of dogs to prospective buyers, particularly about size. This happens with Chi's all the time. It's unfortunate, because it just continues the bad reputation of the Puggles.

Congrats on your new baby!

I'd check with the vet about whether a small 4 month old should be going on regular runs with you.. just to be sure. I am imagining a little one, and young like that, being tired after a run around the block.

I guess the "breeder" just used a small beagle and a small pug and is hoping that the puppies will also be small. Not a different breed of beagle or pug, just a small one-- kind of like how 2 human sisters coming from the same parents can vary in size. You could have a small sister and a large one, and could assume that if the small one married a small guy, their kids may be small. Then again, they may show genetic traits from someone else in the family, you never know.

I thought a standard beagle weighed between 20- 25 lbs and the standard pug would be between 13-20 lbs. How would you get a 30 lb something dog if they used normal weight dogs? I am just wondering.

I hate to agree with scary dog....AKA whatever, but people are breeding down the 13 inch beagles. But even if they did breed a standard 13inch beagle I doubt that it would weigh over 20 pounds. The pugs I have met are between 14-18 pounds.

I suppose if people bred a 15 inch beagle with a 25 pound oversized pug... well then you will get a pretty big puggle.


Maybe beagles1 could tell us how much 13 and 15'' beagles weigh on average.

Where did they get the name pocket from if it gets to be 15 or 20lbs. You would have to have a pretty big pocket.

you people are so rude!!! here is a new member who is just sharing her new puppy with us and all you have to do is rip her apart!

Congratulations on your puggle. I think they are adorable and probably better some pure breds out there!

I have a pug mix as well, pug/terrier and I am very happy with him.

Don't let these people get to you on this site. Obviously, they have wayyyyy too much time on their hands.

First time for me of hearing a "pocket" puggle. Though you wont be sure until she is fully grown, and she'll wont be little, unless they used really really small parents.

If thats a pocket puggle, then my schnauzer is teacup sized. lol.

LOL! Thanks ! She is 4 months and 10 lbs. They are full grown around 6 months the vet said. I got her at 3 months and she weighed about 7.5 lbs. So assuming she will continue at that rate I am guessing around 16 to 17 lbs! I will keep you all posted.
And yeah, I did do lots of research on both the beagles and the pugs.
LOL... How stupid of me to assume there is a smaller version!? WHATEVER!!! I didn't care I wanted to first available and actually asked for a regular puggle to begin with and this was the first they had available. I just figured the first one was the one that was meant to be! And now I couldn't imagin life with out her!!!
THE RUNS BY THE WAY!!! No worries I am not going to let my lil' baby pull some muscles! I have started her out slow... I personally run up to 3 miles, I haven't taken her that far with me yet... I am taking her about a mile and she is fine... We do walk a little in between, but it is her that lets me know when she wants to start up running again! Once she hits another month I will slowly kick it up if she can!
I would put a pic of her on here tool, but don't know how to do that one yet~~

If that dog is running a lot at four months it is going to be screwed later on in life. Puggles are known for their back problems and running at this age is not wise at all.

I agree 4 months is still a baby. She should be worried about eating, sleeping and growing at this point. Exercise by playing in the living room or when she goes out to potty are one thing but I don't think regular runs are wise for any breed particularly a pug mix.
