I was in LA a few years ago when I saw a woman carrying a very small dog in her purse. I was so intrigued I asked her what it was, and can't remember what she told me! It was about 6 mo old at the time, mostly black with brown spots, and couldn't have been over 5 lbs at almost full grown. It wasn't a chihuahua, she said it was a teacup ...................something. She had gotten it from a very exclusive breeder (like 1 of 2 in the US) for a pretty penny. AAHH! This was almost 4 years ago and it still haunts me. Any ideas?????
Was it a russian toy terrier? They have long thin legs, but they kind of look like a min pin and their are only 2 breeders in the US that I've been able to find so far. Here's a site that has pictures of them and some info:
Well, RTTs are between 3-6lbs, so the chi is really the only breed I know of that's in that range AND also resembles them. But what I liked the most is their temperment. No offense chi lovers, but I love the look of the appleheads, but the personality of most chi's really wear on me. The rtt seems a more pleasing companion IMHO. But that's the best thing you can do is research first and I'm in the same stage as you too.
