I dont leave Koda in a cage durring the day but at night and when i leave for his safety,At night he will pee in the crate and lay in it needless to say newfies are not easy to bathe any tips on changing this,He loves to lay on wet towels dont know why but i was thinking of putting a wet towel in the crate because i think he may be trying to cool himself off
How old is he and were did he come form? dogs that lay in their urine are generally used to it and it is sometimes hard to convince them they want to be clean:) Can you put him in a coler area of the house?

??? I dont think you got the post for one he is 9 weeks old.He doesnt need a run because i am only keeping him in a cage at night so dont chew wires and get hurt.I rarely leave durring the day and his cage is right next to my bed.Other that that he has full run of the house.
Joce,He is 9 weeks old he came from a great breeder he will not poop in the cage and i want it next to bed so he is not scared but maybe i can open the window a little.I've only left once since i got him and that was for about 2 hours and he did'nt do anything then.
Your new pup cpuld be good for your heating bill!LOL!Maybe turn the heat down and put on more blankets at night. Maybe put puppy pads in his crate so he wont be soaking yucky. the pad could soak some up. He maybe cant hold it that long so set your clock to take him out potty midway through the night untill he can hold it longer. What we wouldnt do for pets!LOL!
I dont know anything about newfies, so Good Luck!

When I had a little one, I would take her out on the leash to potty every 2 hours at night. It was a pain in the booty, but it was just quick trips out, and a good opportunity to praise, praise, praise when she did "go" out there.
He moves the bedding and lays in the pee, last night i put a crib pad in there that he could not move he peed and layed on top of it im going to try a rug tonight.
BTW he is the best puppy i have ever seen he is doing great with housetraining great with Baylee, the kids and the cats.He is picking things up like crazy he already sits lays down and almost totaly knows drop it.
