...A COLD WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA THIS WEEKEND...
A VERY COLD WINTER STORM WILL BRING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND LOW SNOW LEVELS THIS WEEKEND. THERE WILL BE A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS TONIGHT FROM A WEAK DISTURBANCE MOVING BY TO THE NORTH...BUT THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE TOO DRY TO BRING SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS.
ON SATURDAY A SECOND...STRONGER DISTURBANCE WILL MAKE LANDFALL NEAR PT CONCEPTION...THEN MOVE EAST ACROSS SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING. THIS SECOND SYSTEM WILL BRING STRONG WINDS AND HAVE MORE MOISTURE...BRINGING BETTER CHANCES FOR RAIN AS THE COLD FRONT CROSSES SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SATURDAY NIGHT.
PRECIPITATION TOTALS WILL LIKELY BE HIGHEST IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY WHERE ONE HALF TO ONE INCH OF RAIN IS EXPECTED...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ON THE SOUTHWEST FACING MOUNTAIN SLOPES. LIGHTER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED FARTHER SOUTH IN RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO COUNTY WITH RAINFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH. HOWEVER...IF THE STORM TRACKS SLIGHTLY FARTHER SOUTH...HIGHER PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY IN THE SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS.
DUE TO THE COLD NATURE OF THIS STORM THE SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP TO 3000 FEET IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SATURDAY...LOCALLY LOWERING TO 2500 FEET IN THE HEAVIEST SHOWERS. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE FAVORED LOCATIONS OF THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MOUNTAINS...AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 3 INCHES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN THE APPLE AND LUCERNE VALLEYS.
ALTHOUGH THE GROUND IS QUITE DRY FROM THE LACK OF RECENT RAINS...LOCALLY HEAVY SHOWERS MAY CAUSE URBAN FLOODING OF POORLY DRAINED LOW LYING AREAS. THERE COULD BE MUD SLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS IN AND BELOW RECENTLY BURNED AREAS...NAMELY THE SIERRA FIRE IN ORANGE COUNTY.
MOTORISTS TRAVELING THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTRY CONDITIONS INCLUDING STRONG WINDS...SNOW SHOWERS...REDUCED VISIBILITIES AT TIMES AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES.
What a crack up I'm in Monrovia Ca it is near Pasadena. I swear I should have been a weather woman. In L.A. county it is so silly they act as ifthe world is coming to an end when alittle rain hits. My nephew was coming over but said the freeways are to jamed due to accidents caused by the rain this evening. I think we might have gottem 1/8 of an inch already ormaybe thats what they expect over night .lmao.
I'll trade you all some of your "harsh" weather for some of mine. Local time 9:43pm Central Time. Local temp according to weather.com is -27F w/ windchill of -50F+ below. Thermometer on my porch reads a balmy -25 and there are 2 foot snow drifts in my driveway that weren't there an hour ago.
You are not hallucinating mzpeekabooicu. I saw the post too. It mysteriously disappeared. I guess a moderator did not approve of the content. It basically said to be nice to mzpeekabooicu because she is only trying to be a good person. 'Nough said.
