Hey. Well, I have a question in regards to, my Min Pin, Penny's pregnancy. She is only 2 weeks and 4 days into her pregnancy (since the day she was bred) She is a very slim and fit Min Pin, so to now see her with a pouch is very noticeable and obvious to most. Since I know her body very well, I can tell, and so can alot of other people. What could this mean? This is probably normal, but just wondering. Could this mean her pups are going to be bigger? (She is 5lbs then male is 6.5lbs) Could this mean there are most likely one or two more pups than the average first litter for a dam? Just let me know what you think. I will be seeing my Vet March 3rd for her ultrasound. Thanks to anyone for any helpful and respectful input.
It's not uncommon to see a difference in dogs after 2 weeks. With slim breeds like your own, it is just more evident to you. I don't think it has too much to do with the # of puppies just yet, you'd have to wait a while more before you could actually "feel" the puppies in her stomach. The ultra-sound will tell you a lot though, so let us know :)
That is great she is acting normal still. At this point in her pregnancy, she should still be her "normal" self. If she was real tired, not eatting, etc, that wouldn't be too good for her, or the pups. As she needs the nutrients and so do they.
**Not sure if you know this, but she should be on PUPPY FOOD right now, til the puppies are born and weaned**
That could be why she is big (if you have her on adult food) as that is too hearty for her right now. But if she is on puppy food, the "largeness" is simply your slim dog becoming mommie.
Hello. Actually my Vet recommend that i mix her food. She is getting 3/4 puppy and 1/4 adult food. With an occasional snack and a yogurt here and there. Those were my vet's suggestions for her diet, and that is what I am going by. Sounds good right? Thanks again for replyin. You have been the only one so far. Lol....Thanks
Hello. Thanks to all for the good wishes. I know I haven't been on in while but I been busy being nervous with pregnant Penny. I am sure she will be alright. I will definitely keep you all posted, but keep the input, suggestions, comments etc coming. I do appreciate them. And I will most definitely post pictures and updates. Thanks!
