Earlier today, I was cooking. I was using toothpicks. Somehow my poodle ( 1 yr & 2 mths old) ended up sneaking off with one for a snack. When I found it theres was about half left. I am assuming she ate the other half. Should I be terribly concerned or is this something that she will probably digest without much trouble? She weighs about 7 pounds. Does anyone have any advice?
i'm not totally sure how much he actually ate but i would be careful because i know a human who died when he swallowed a toothpick. he didn't even worry about it but it had punctured his stomach and he ended up dying...so i would call the vet. just to be careful. good luck.
Don't worry, I freak out too for everything. It could easily pass through, so check to see her poo for a few days and hopefully it is in there. Make sure she continues to eat as normal too, as to prove it didn't get caught in her stomach.
My husbands uses toothpicks all the time. As much as I ask him not to leave them around he does, and Dexter did get ahold of one. He also ate half of it and everything passed through ok. It's like child proofing your home isn't it! Best of luck, I'm sure it'll be ok.
