Ok i just started him on the angels glow yesterday. Yesterday i gave it to him in a teaspoon of yogurt he likes yogurt so today i try again and he isnt having anything to do with it. So i try cheese, and then i make him a scrambed egg ( his first) and put it in there and he eats some of it and im thinking why wont he eat it? So i try it ( not the egg and angels glow, just the angels glow) and this stuff is nasty , leaves a horrible taste in your mouth with just a dab... yuckkkk So what are some things i can try to get him to take the 1/8 tsp of this angels glow? im about ready to just open his mouth and drop it in.. LOL im just so excieted to be trying this and gosh i hope it works for the tear stains. Has anyone used something that really works? ON the website for angels glow it says baby food or meat products, cottage cheese. Well of coarse i didnt go get cottage cheese because i thought we would do the yogurt in the mornings with the angel glow but the little fella has caught on and isnt having anything to do with it. Please help! Ive been so excieted to get this and now he isnt wanting to take it. WHAT CAN I DO?? as always thanks again, theresa
I use Angels Glow on my light colored poodles and it works great! It says to put it on their food but since I only want certain dogs to get it I just dump it in their mouth and they swallow it. Mine won't eat it unless I do it that way. Hope this helps, it is worth doing because Angels Glow is the only thing I have found that works great!
Hello, i just went out and got some gerber baby food meat stuff.. like it said on angels glow website, and yup he ate it. I tried everything this morning, i made him a egg and yogurt, and peanut butter.. I was about ready to just dump it down his throat but gosh have you tried that stuff? Its way nasty no wonder why he wont eat it, and it has the worst after taste. LOL but now i got the gerber meat stage 2 and he loves it.
For those of you that dont know what angels glow is its this powered stuff you put on their food once a day it gets rid of tear stains.when the hair grops out , it isnt tear stained. Ive heard only good things about this so im hoping like heck it works. Nothing else has worked . This is only the second day but i have high hopes its going to work. So every day i will give him the baby food i give him only a teaspoon of the baby food meat just enough to mask the taste of the angels glow...
Silly boy he thinks hes getting a treat and its his medicine..LOL
Angel's glow is for tear stains. I've been giving it to my bichon frise and it does work. Baxter wouldn't eat it either, finally I started mixing it with peanut butter. He gobbles it right up. Now when he sees me grab the bottle of angel's glow he starts to do the wave. :) Try peanut butter.
Kristen, how long before you started noticing a differnce when you started using angels glow? Is it working for you like they claim it will? I do notice that my bichon-poodle doenst have the wet face anymore from over active tear glands. Is it suppose to dry the tear ducts? So far this is what i noticed and it isnt getting any worse. Im going to take him in and have this face hairs all trimmed up so i can see the results. They say the new hair grows and it isnt stained. So im thinking if i get his face trimed up and then it always looks better when i have this done but i want to beable to see this working. Its been 3 days now for my boy. I know it can take up to weeks, but i am hoping hes one of the few that it starts showing right away! Ive been so excieted for my little guy and to get rid of these stains. I do feel when you take your pup out to like petsmart i think even tho ppl come up and say oh hes so cute but i think that they see his tear stains and think he isnt taken care of or something. I do think it takes away from your dogs beauty. So today i think im going to take him in for a quick face trim, and get the old stained hair removed. I have trimmed his tear stain hair before but i dont like getting around his eyes he moves to much and i dont want to hurt him.
I know exactly what you mean. I KNOW it's cosmetic and yes, maybe vain of me to care but I also know he gets a lot more positive attention from strangers NOW. Before poeple thought he was old or sickly, or yes, not cared for very well. Yes, ignorance on them, but still.... As far as it working. I've been grooming him myself and he gets bathed just about once a week.--I know that's often but that's what works for us. I started thinking I was seeing results within a couple weeks, my husband did not see though. My Mom who was coming every couple weeks also thought he looked "better" by the time we needed the second bottle my husband was IN and completely agreeing that it worked. His face does still get wet, but it's not the red anymore and not staining. It's now time to order the third bottle, he weighs about 13 pounds and I did give a little less than what they recommended. One bottle lasted us a month, the second bottle lasted longer because I started him on every other day. His dogster page....there are some pics that you can really see the stains and some "after" Hang in there, it WILL work. --I did trim the stained area when I bathed him so I could see if it was growing in white but I didn't trim it all off at once because I didn't want him looking goofy. ;-) http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?j=t&i=236435

Kristen, thanks for the advice and help. I just cant wait for it to start working.. I just made bentley a salon appt today at 3:30 to get his face trimed up and the rest of him hes getting pretty scruffy. Im kinda nervous tho as i dont know really what i want out of his hair cut. I surly dont want him to short but its cute and all but the big fluffy fur ball has got to be tamed down some i i think.. Im excieted to get the old tear stains cut out when they did it before it looked so much better and of coarse they do a much better job then i can do. I have a silly question being baxtor is bichon and mine is bichon toy poodle do you think that they will be roughly the same in size when he gets older? Im unsure of how big Bentley will be. To me he looks more like a poodle but this is my first dog so i really dont know much...LOL In the pic of Baxtor is he trimmed or is that just how his coat is growing? I should find a cut i want before taking him in and they make him bald or something. But his hair is getting so long its in his eyes and he just looks like cousin it these days..LOL I will keep you informed how the angels glow is going. Its only been 3 days... Im hoping it works quickly for him some ppl say that it was a week and they noticed a change. Wishful thinking i think on my part... theresa
Thanks for the compliments of both my guys. :) Sampson was my Christmas gift from my hubby this poast Christmas and he is MY boy. :) Baxter loves everyone, Sam loves MOM. ;-) Lmbo sitting here as Sampson is behind me squeaking his squeaky football and immitating it! Too funny!!!! Baxter....I had him groomed the frst time at petco. ($45), since then I've been bathing him and trimming him myself about once a week. So yes, he gets trimmed. He's still getting his adult coat, which I just explained in another thread to you, with a bichon it could take up to 3 years. Your Bentley doesn't look poodle to me at all. ;-) I highly recommend the Bichon boards. I've learned a ton from those people and there really are so many things that are "bichonly" When Baxter blitzed through my house (Running full speed moaning and usually doing a figure "8" pattern) I literally thought I had a puppy with brain damage! LOL, now I know it's a bichon thing. Check out aol's Bichon forum and if I see you there, I can also recommend another Bichon forum--neither of the forums would think anything of Bentley being part poodle, in fact there are honorary bichons that are cats (and I think my Sampson has earned the honorary bichon title as well) As far as size goes. Baxter will be a year old on the 11th. (time flies) he looks a lot bigger in his pics than he really is. He weighs about 13 pounds right now. If I were to guess, I'd say Bentley is going to be , maybe about 10 pounds. I'd be shocked if he got to 15. He's absolutely adorable! Hope I answered all your questions. If not just ask me again. :)

Kristen, thanks i got the links. I got on and looked around for a little bit. Are there any bichons that are mixed like mine is? I was kinda nervous to post being that Bentley is a bichi-poo even tho it did say any kind of bichon welcome or something like that. I looked around and didnt see any mixed breeds tho ???? I havent got on the aol one yet thats my next stop and to check that one out, they seem like they have alot of useful information tho, things i didnt know about bichons. Gosh could this be why he is so hard to potty train???lol Alot of things i see posted he does, he walks on his two back feet alot and likes to dance. And when he is begging and you tell him no he does this werid little woble thing from one foot to the other and every time you tell him no he does this its funny. It could help me out alot to find out what traits the bichon has but would you think that being half poodle that he would have traits of both? Ive never been a dog person untill i just got Bentley ( my husband got him for me for valentines day) and i never thought i could love a dog so much its werid how they change you. But im going to check out the next forum you listed and hope i can get some good info. I cant believe how many ppl have bichons.. thanks again theresa

I have a 2 year old Bichon Frise who had terrible tear stains. The stains actually come from red yeast. The angle's glow has a mild antibotic in it which kills the yeast, thus ending the stains. I've use the angle's glow on and off for over a year with wonderful results. It is the ONLY product for tear stains that works, and I've tired them all. I put it in her food mixed with a teaspoon of canned food. She gobbles it right up with no problems. I've also mixed it with, applesause, sweetpotatoes, and canned pumpkin. I've never had a problem with her not taking it. I did taste it too, and it is nasty. But remember that dogs don't have the same taste buds as we do.
I just bought Angels Glow but now I am concerned that this is an antibiotic and giving it to him on a regular basis. Has anyone talked to their vet about if this is safe for long term use? I don't want to jepordize my pets health for tear stains and if he get's really sick I don't want the antibiotics not to work if he develops a resistent to them by being on them consistently.
I am going to call my vet but I wanted to see if anyone who is using the product knows if it's safe.
