Just wondering what you all do when it is raining out for your dogs to go outside. Mia is trained to go outside only, but when it rains, I find it so hard to take him out and confine him just to the porch (with me holding his leash)
I put on a raincoat. Maggie doesn't mind the rain at all. The very first time it rained real hard (when she was a pup), she didn't want to go out. But we went out anyway. Ever since then, she just goes out in the rain-doesn't matter how hard it might be coming down. We go out, she does her thing, we run back in. We both get toweled down!
my guys do not like to go out in the rain. they will stand on the porch and just stare out in disgust. then they will run out, pee real quick and come right back. this is when a flexi lead comes in real handy. i stay dry on the porch while they go out and get wet lol. they also wont poop in the rain, even if it rains for two days straight they will hold it in .
rocky is a big baby. he walks around on his toes so he doesnt get his feet too wet. too bad so sad for him. he knows i can tuff it out and will stay out there until he goes. so its usually a quick deal. harley follows the little ones around and pees where they just did. a couple of times rocky wasnt even done and harley peed on him. so i have to keep harley away from them at potty time.
My dogs go out in hte rain, period and end of point. If that means a walk, that means a walk, if that means a punt into the yard that means the yard. They now know not to refuse me. I'll only pick them up and toss them out anyway.
I put on my rain poncho and insist they go ....Two of mine will run out pee and then zip back in but the rest are pretty good as long as they see me out with them....all this depends on whether or not there is any thunder or lightning and then its a lost cause....
Cody doesn't mind the weather at all, snow, rain, sunny whatever he loves going outside and for walks so on really, really snowy or rainy days my husband takes him out and walks him, on really really nice days I take him out! Works for me! :) We do dry Cody off before he can come in the house if it is raining and I will do that for my husband cause the porch is covered! I am so spoiled! lol
muffin doesn't love the rain so i kind of have to give her a little push on the bum to get her out. she also hates going out when its really cold and there is lots of snow out. she really hates the winter walks because of all the salt that they put on the sidewalks, it bothers her feet.
I have posted on this before but it does really help. What we do is , I put newspaper real thick down in the garage and our garage is adjacent to the laundry room where the doggie door is. We are lucky all 3 will use papers and so when it rains I do that. Tina will potty on the papers. Mandy and Max both if they have to do more than tee tee they will go outside. Then I have to fill a plastic bucket thing I have with water and wash their feet before they can go back in on the carpet. I hate that, my poor achy back.
