Well there's a few schools of thought on that. First off, you can provide the dog with his own digging spot and direct him there. I've heard that if you keep his toenails very very closely trimmed, they dont like to dig because it is uncomfortable.
Thanks Minniyar....i might try designating a corner of the yard to Floyd so he can dig there....might work....worth a try! My boyfriend has heard of a method where you put the dog's poo in the hole and apparently he won't want to dig there anymore....do you think that would work?
Several things, poo in the hole. Also chicken wire burried just beneath the surface in the areas that he likes to dig. When the pup hit the wire, they will stop, it hurts their feet. Dog won't do what is not comfortable & fun. Provide a sand box for the are that he can call his own!
Find the places he likes to dig and cover a small ballon (blown up) there. The sound will scare him off. Or try mothballs same method. How are you? I haven't chatted with you recently. It's been awhile. IM me.
My neighbor solved this problem with her boxer and when it dug a hole she sprinkled cayane pepper in the hole. When the dog goes back to the hole it does not like it. It really worked and she never digs.
