Rileys ear has been looking kinda gross so I've been cleaning it out the last few days with medicine. I tried to clean it this morning and he screamed.. so I took him to the vet. He needs surgery because the infection is behind and on his ear drum. So if I don't do it he could go deaf in that ear.
The low amount for the surgery is 800 the high is 1,000. I just started crying when they gave me the estimate. Don't know what I'm going to do, don't have that kind of money.
My poor boy :( But he is going Wednesday, keep him in your thoughts.
Oh dear. I am so sorry. I will pray for Riley, I know he'll pull through. Stay strong Ashley, you'll get through this. And just keep in mind that no matter how long it will take you to pay it off, it is well worth it in the end as his hearing is important as you know! Maybe your vet can do a payment schedule with you? I will be thinking about you and Riley Wednesday. Keep up updated. YOU CAN DO THIS GUYS!!
Yeah they said they can do payments, but I need to make a down payment on it. I'm going to call the insurance company and see if they can send the money to the vet instead of me. And see how much they will cover.
I just feel so bad for him. He has been through SO much already and hes only 1 1/2. This sucks.
wow. you have been through alot with reilly. you are a loving and responsible pet owner. he is lucky to have you. i know about vet bills. i have had my fair share with my frenchies. they can add up slowly or sock it to you all at once.keep your chin up . its always darkest before the dawn. things will get better.
It sucks when they have ear problems,I remember how bad byron was. I'm never going floppy again jsut to avoid it. You might want to see a couple diffrent vets about it. We went to three and they all wanted to do something diffrent. It was all expensive but some were less invasive while one wanted to remove all the inner ear! I hope it all works out for him:) Its not your fault,he's lucky he has you,a lot of people would have probally given up.
I had a friend who worked as a waitress, believe it or not, at Hoss's. (do they have them where you live?) Anyway, it was a part-time job. She only worked once a week, on Sat, and said she could bring home $100-$150 in tips in just one day! Maybe you could do something like that temporarily, to earn some extra money. Personally, I couldn't be a waitress. I'm a little bit clumsy, and would be dumping drinks on people! Wouldn't get many tips that way. Although, they might pay me to stay away from their table!
if your family is having a hardship, maybe you could contact the people in this link. they help one time and will pay up to 500 of the bill. i know we all struggle at times and a large vet bill can really hurt. hope it helps
You are such a good mom to your "furries" and they love you so much that I am sure all will turn out perfect. If the vet is willing to make payment arrangements with you and it seems so over whelming just take a deep breath, give them a hug, and know that all will be okay...
