I have never had a chinese crested.....my dream dogs are chihuahuas and chinese cresteds and told myself that I would buy which ever one stood out to me first. I found a chihuahua that I fell in love with before I could even find a crestie breeder! They are still one of my favorite breeds and I may still get one in the future....or maybe another chi!

The Akita. They are my dream dogs. So loyal, loving, caring, great companions, very smart, not to hyper, big (I like the big breeds), protective of it's home and family, and jsut all around great. I love the breed. but have to say, they are not for everyone forsure. They need a firm hand or they will walk all over you.
This is an interesting topic. The problem with me is that I truely want one of almost everything. That's why while I've been doing my research I've had such a hard time making a final decision on which breed. So, I decided it's best to just adopt a dog that needs a home that fits my needs. But to give a an example of just a few of the breeds I plan on owning one day once I have my own house include:
Great Dane Russian Rat Terrier Mini (or toy) Schnauzer Pomerianan(sp?) Yorkie Itailan Greyhound Min Pin shippereke (sp?) Chow Chows Sheltie-I just love their personality! I have never meet one that wasn't as sweet as can be. I've probably known at least 8 or 9 people that have owned them and it seems like every that has one never has anything bad to say about them. Oh, and I thought they would be a good dog to have once I have kids.

I have to say that I have been lucky enough to have the breeds I've wanted along the road to life. Mixed breeds (mutts, Heinz 57s..whatever you wish to call them), Labs, a Cocker and now the Pyrs.
When it comes to specific, pure-bred dogs, I tend to get into researching them to get beyond the appearance and find that there is something in the breeds that says we wouldn't be a match made in Heaven.
I did rather extensive research, talked to lots of other owners, joined a Pyr forum and knew my breeder for about a year before I brought my first Pyr into our home (Angel).
I'd love a Newfie, but have a hang up on the life span.
When I was younger, i'd say perhaps 15 (I'm 21 years old now) my father and I passed a place in Oklahoma where they were holding illegal cockfights. Outside was a man selling the cutest white furballs you ever did see, for 75 dollars a piece. He handed me some papers, and we drove off with my new baby. Come to find out he was a registered full blooded Great Pyrenees. He was a great dog, I named him Vike. We live in a town of 400, and one day when I let him outside to "do his business" he realized he was big enough to get over our chain link fence. Some of the towns people took it to the city, and the city here threatened to have him put down if he got out again. Instead of taking the chance, my aunt took him to live on her 200 acres, with her horses and cows and 2 other Pyrenees. She still has him. He's beautiful. If I my living situation permitted, i'd have another one or get him back.
Also, if permitted.. i'd have a pureblood Pitt or a Boxer. I think they are both so beautiful, and strong looking. Unfortunately, I live in one of those towns that has banned Pitts and Rotties, because of a stupid irresponsible owner a few years back.
My husband has been really wanting a english bulldog for years now, and were really thinking of buying one. Im more into the smaller cuter dogs.. But since i was a kid ive always wanted a st bernard! dont know why i guess they were so big and ive never seen anyone have one where i lived. Of coarse now being 32 i think they get alittle to big for my liking and need alot of room to grow. But now im really into getting a yorkie, im looking for a yorkie mix but the more i think about it maybe a pure breed yorkie is what i would want if i got anther dog. But hubby said he gets to get his bulldog first because he just got me Bentley ( bichipoo) so its his turn to get the dog he wants.... Ya well see...LOL
there are a lot of dogs that i would love to have but probably would never get to own because of either size or of my allergies.
i would love to have a standard poodle but ever since i saw my aunt having to carry her keeshond up the stairs when she got too old i always knew that i would have to have smaller dogs since i am way to small to carry any large dogs. since i cannot have a standard poodle i will probably get a toy poodle at some point.
i would love to have a shiba inu but i am to afraid of their high prey drive because i have 5 cats and of the way they try to run away. same thing for siberian husky.
i would also love to have a doberman pinscher but i always worry about their heart disorders, and their size.
If I had a really big house and yard and lived in the boonies, I would like 2 Giant Schnauzers, 2 Standard Poodles, mabe a couple of Dogue De Bordaux's, maybe an Irish Wolfhound. And a husband that makes alot of money so I could stay at home and be with them.
Silkypup, Shibas can and do have a high prey drive, but if they are raised with other animals they are fine, mine were both raised ferrets and they moved in with the cat at 8 and 6 years old and they are both fine with him. My parents is another thing all together, he was raised on an acerage and likes to hunt mice and muscrats, but he has never hurt a cat.
I am happy with my tri-color border collie but one day i would love a red merle or a blue merle there beautifull!!I do love all dog breeds ,there all beautifull in there own way but border collies are definatley my favourite.
