I have two 6 toe kitties. One has 6 on both of his front feet. The other is a male calico with 6 on all feet- the are normal- well, as normal as cats can be!!

A friend of mine has the most gorgeous 6 toed cats. She adopted a whole litter and raised them up. She calls them mitten kittens. They are all long haired and are soooo gorgeous-not because of the toe, but they just are.

OMG!! THEY ARE SOO AWESOME !!
I HAVE OWNED 2 6 TOED ORANGE TIGER CATS . THEY BOTH DIED WAY TOO YOUNG BUT THEY WERE BOTH INCREDIBLE AND BIG!
IF I WAS NOT ALLERGIC I WOULDPROBABLY TAKE 3 OMG AWESOME LITTLE GUYS!!! SOO HARD TO FIND.

Six toed, polydactual, mitten, fingers, thumbs, whatever you want to call them. Are the cutest kittens in the world. If anyone comes across any kittens let me know, I would love to add a family member.

I live in Florida if you go to Key West to the Hemingway house you will see them all over the keys. They are adorable Common name is "Hemingway Cats"

I want one we have been looking for one for a wile but never can find one.

They are cute it looks like they are boxing because of there thumbs.
You will have no problems getting rid of them I dont know a single person who does not want one.

The name is polydactyly. It happens randomly in cats. All it means is two more nails to trim. Some people actually look for these cats. It is certainly nothing to worry about. If you were breeding cats for show, it might be, but not if they are only to be pets.

I catsit and I sit for this one woman and she has a cat who has six toes. It just means they are special; not handicapped or anything! I looked at your picture and they are so cute, too! I think anyone would buy them if they saw them!

i have 6 toed cat that has had one litter of 6 kittens and 4 of the 5 had 6 toes. she is now pregnant again so i am waiting to see how many she will have this time. Samantha, sam for short, her mother also had 6 toes. I will post again when she has her litter, should be about 3 weeks

those cats are AWESOMe!!!!! I had 4 over the years always great cats all orange tigers :) miss em.

I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal about 6 toed cats, and thinks these cats will be in such demand. A cat is a cat is a cat. If you don't want one with five toes on each front paw and four toes on each hind paw (which is normal) what makes you think one with more toes is going to be any different?

At the shelter where I used to work, there were several polydactyl cats, and they didn't get adopted any quicker than the other cats.
If cats could talk, they would lie to you.

Agreed catlover. We found our polydactyl cat on the side of the road when she was a baby. There is no difference between her and our other cats, except for the fact that she looks like she is wearing mittens on her front paws, lol.

I have (2) three month old polydactyl cats. One has eight toes on each front paw, and the other has six. The whole litter of five was born with extra toes to a mother who had six herself. I would love to find a female to mate with them when they are old enough.

I read a website once that described polydactyl cats as "not a mutation -- a variation." Would you say the same thing if your kids had 6 to 8 fingers per hand?

Ick. I don't get it. I will leave the extra digits to someone else. There are too many cats with 18 toes to want to conjure up ones with 20, 22, or 24.

It is a congenital abnormality. Some polydactyls (although not all) have a harder time learning how to walk. At any rate-you wouldn't intentionally breed a dog that has a genetic defect, so why breed a polydactyl cat?

Hello, I'm new to this discussion forum but was looking for information on extra toed kittens and found this link. I have some extra toed kittens that one of my kitties just had and I am looking for good homes for them.....I live in Washington State
