I posted awhile back about my just about 5 months old now bichipoo pup Bentley humping his stuffed animals. It really wasnt all the time but every now and then you would see him. Well now it seems he favors this stuffed monkey of my daughters that is 3 x as big as he is. He will drag this thing out of her room and just start humping it. We take it away and throw it back in her room and he will sit and cry by the door to get this thing. If the door is open he goes in and finds it and drags it back out. What is the deal with this monkey? Its every time he finds this thing. Im ready to throw it away, but it is my daughters and she puts it on her bed and he gets in there and drags it out and she puts it on her dresser so he cant get it and he sits there and crys and stares at it.
Will this stop when he is fixed next month? the vet told us 6 months to have him fixed. ughhhh! Why is he is persistant with this monkey! Yes he does it to other stuffed toys of his own but nothing like this monkey. We call it his girl friend he just cant get enough of her!LOL Is this normal? I was told that he really doesnt know what hes doing but i would have to differ about that he seems to know what hes doing. Also now every time i come home and hes exceited to see me or really anyone hes wee wee is out and thats never happened before untill a few weeks ago. Will tihs all stop when he is fixed? or is he going to always be like this? I thought getting a boy pup would be so much easier then a girl- i thikn i could of been wrong..LOL This is getting out of hand..
Believe it or not it is natural, all dogs have something that is comforting to them , and males often hump small beds, blankets, or stuffed animals. My puppy was fixed v. early and he has had no problems like that , so it should calm down, he has only ever done it once but he pee-pee didn't show. It should all calm down when he is fixed but perhaps hide the monkey until then and tell your daughter you are sorry but you will give him back once he is fixed.
snoopy is almost 3 and humps his pillow every day. thats all he ever humps, never people or other objects, and its at least once or twice daily. he drags it around th eliving room, humps it, drags it.....we have learned ot ignore it. he was neutered at 9 mos old.
Jackson was neutered at 6 months old and has a girlfriend. A toy dog that is twice his size and is soft and easy to grab. He does not do it every day but several times a week he will go upstairs and have his way with the one stuffed animal.
His little pink thing rarely comes out. Saw it a few times before he was neutered and only 2 or 3 times since. Not sure if neutering reduces that or not. Maybe someone else knows.
Tsion has a brown teddy bear, it is at least twice his size, absolutely his favorite, he drags it around everywhere, chews on it, in fact it almost dosent have hair on its tail any more. Yes he also humps it, always, sometimes showing his lipstick as well. I think it is a dominance thing, this teddy bear is much bigger than him, and tho it does show some resistance, like when a leg gets tangled under tsions so it feels like it is fighting back. Thats pretty impressive to him that he can beat the crap out of this teddy. So while he's shaking him and biting him he throws in a little bit of , "whose the man now? Huh? guess I just showed you, yeah who kicked your butt?"!!!!!!!
p.s. I think you should buy your daughter some nice new something she will like alot, and let him keep monkey!

thlynda... that was just too funny... you have a way with words.
Beau is 9 months now & he is going to be fixed soon but I haven't had a whole lot of trouble with him humping things although his "lipstick" shows quite a bit.
The other day I had Beau go for a run in a near by soccer field & he met a new dog "Socks". Well Socks was 4 years old & fixed, not aggressive but the owners were not sure how he would react to Beau. Well we took them off their leashes & they stood there sizing each other up, after a few minutes Beau wanted to start running around & Socks would just try to dominate him & he growled a lot. Well to Socks' mom & dad & especially Beau's surprize, Socks decided he wanted to hump Beau. He had a good grip on Beau & totally embarassed his owners. My 7 year old thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen & just about wet himself laughing.
All in all the meeting went well but had to be cut short as another guy was coming down with 3 huskies & I just thought that it might be too much with 5 dogs running around, probably taking turns on Beau ;)
