My 1.5 yr old miniature pinscher has had 2 spay appts and I take her in to see if she can be spayed yet but the vet says to hold off bc she is swollen but not bleeding (sits on my lap almost 24/7 so Id know lol). I cant imagine this is normal bc her 6-7 month and 1 yr heat were normal.. she just wasnt spayed then due to other healthy probs.
If she is indeed a little swollen, it is quite possible that 1)she will begin to bleed within the week, or 2) she is having a wolf heat, but is still considered a cycle, jut irregular. This can happen for many reasons. I would give it a little more time and watch her then decide.
she is probably in heat, it is sometimes called a hidden heat, but is can be full heat, and she could get pregnant. The other thing may be that she goes into a very light heat, my female Shiba inu, Ruffian, is like this, she goes into a heat, but it lasts 25 days, not 10. She bleeds for 7-10 days then is receptive at 20-23 days, we only found this out through smears at the vet. but I have never had dogs attracted to her, in fact she was very hard to breed, and that only happened 2 times, males just dont recognize that she is in heat.
