I have a Pomeranian & someone gave me a collar for x-mess. Now she has a bald spot under her neck. I fill so bad. I did not see it because she has so much hair. I went to brush her and I noticed it. It is not red or anything & none of her other collars did this to her before. Do you think the hair will grow back? I hope so because I tried to brush it out & now she looks like a bald man with a bad comb over how sad! Do you think I should put somhing on it? I don't know what if anything.
its just a fact of life that long poofy haired dogs that wear collar tend to loose fur under where the collar is. Some collars are worse than others at causing hair loss. I havea gsd/border collie mix and he has 'ring around the collar'. It has to do with fact that the collar rubs on the hair repeatedly as the dog moves, eventually causing the hairs to break and fall off. Your dog's hair will grow back if you leave the collar off, or you acn use a rolled leather collar, which may or may not help. Unless you're showing your dog (which I do with my Lab) this is not really a big deal IMHO. I mean, if you put the collar back on, the ring is less obvious cause the collar covers it. The smaller the collar is, the less of an impact it will have over all on your dog's neck.
So its really up to you. If you want visible ID on your dog at all times, leave the collar on.
