They are little clowns. They love to play with toys, and they would do anything for you. They love us, but they can be very stubborn. They are difficult to housetrain, and they can easily injure their backs and necks. They love kids and mine all get along well with my daughter who is only 3. They will do what they can to always be touching me. If I'm sitting down they will all be there trying to get on my lap. They are like little shadows. If I walk into another room they all get up and follow me. When I get back from shopping they stick their heads in the bag. This is a breed that should never be offleash outside unless they are in a securely fenced yard because if they catch a scent they will go, and not hear you calling them. They are very stubborn, but are extremely smart! Very active too. I have one that dug out and killed a gopher in my parents' yard last year. My mother loves her now. Their personalities are all different. It's one of my favorite breeds!

doxielover1--- Made me laugh about sitting down and they ALL try and get in your lap. So true!!! Sitting down on the couch to read a newspaper or magazine is a joke, isn't it?! They will just pile up on top of each other. Even when I am on the computer they want to all get in my lap. I finally just got another chair to sit next to me so they can at least be near me.
I have two Miniature Pinschers (female is 1 year, 10 months old, male is 1 year 1 month old) and they are definitely clowns and very active. They do settle down at home but get very excited when visitors come or in public when they see other people and dogs.
These dogs should never be off lead either since they will take off across the street to chase something or to see other dogs or people and could end up getting hit by a car. My two have done well in obedience class and are very smart but they also have a mind of their own and are pretty independent. They had to mature some before exceling in obedience because they are easily distracted. They will sometimes sit in your lap but not as often as I like. Other people with Min Pins have said their's are lap sitters but mine are usually too busy and they love their snuggle bed so they do not feel the need to sit in my lap constantly. They do like to be in the room that you are in.
They are pretty athletic for little dogs. I have read they are hard to potty train but I did not think it was too hard.
A good thing to remember is to socialize any dog but particularly small dogs. Georgie was always social and not afraid but we had to work on Jackson and now he is great too. I have also learned to let my dogs settle down some before seeing another strange dog because they get so excited and jump on the other dog right away which is not a good thing.
Good luck with your choice!! We love our Min Pins and will probably always have one now.
