A dog is a dog! If hes born with teeth he will bite I dont care how you define it. All I know is my chiuchua can take a baby finger off he can get hold to one. he can kill a small child, he can do bodily harm to an adult.so it doesnt matter what kind off dog you have.believe me I'm more scare of little dogs than so your big dogs.Kids play with teacup all the time but i still have to watch him b/c they might pull his tail or ear, and he will bite to defend himself just like any other dog. pits have been talk about so bad untill everyone wants to bad mouth them. ...You better watch them little ones. The only reason i dont have a pit is b/c of the way i got teacup. plus my daughter has one and all i can say is omg.... she has her dog the same way i have teacup. when i go over there he almost knock me down then here comes the kisses ugh! oh my not the tail..ouch!!!!!! i go home with marks all over my leg. dont let me try and leave he raceing me to the door. my daughter thinks it funny. so when i leave her house i'm totally exusted.so you see i love him to death but hes just to big and strong for me to handle teacup i can. but i do know the time i took tea to the vet he bit my figer b/c i was holding him for the doctor and blood went everywhere.STOP WORRYING ABOUT PITS YOU BETTER WATCH THE LITTLE ONES!!!!!!!!
I started this so I think I will let ya know what I think.
Pit-Bulls are great dogs, but when they fight, they are good at it. And being that ALL breeds will get into fights from time to time, I do feel more safe knowing that there are not going get into a fight with a pit-bulls
My friend has a pit-bull and my dog plays with it all the time. The other day, for reasons unknown, my dog, a whippet, growled at this pit-bull. OH MY GOD! WAS MY DOG CRAZY.... Don't upset the Pit-Bull!
I have seen a great many dog fights over the years and they are always easy to break up. But with some breeds a fight really becomes a terrible thing that results in terrible damage. Also, pit-bull owners don't help the matter because they always seem to have these dogs latching onto things as they swing them around. Fun, perhaps, ... but it still makes me uneasy.
I think that it is a shame the the breed is being outlawed. Although I do not belive that BSL puts all breeds in danger... as if the government is going to ban whippets.... I still think that many great dogs miss out on the freedom they need as the result of stupid laws.
But... I will tell you the truth.... when I arrive at the dog park... I stick with the little wimpy dogs. Do they fight? Ya, more often then I would like, but the end result of thouse fights are little to nothing. I dare not think what a upset Pit-Bull could do to my whippets leg.
Not the fault of the breed, people bred them that way.
"STOP WORRYING ABOUT PITS YOU BETTER WATCH THE LITTLE ONES!!!!!!!!"
Despite the all caps and extensive use of exclamation points, I haven't seen any statistics to back up the idea that smaller dogs are more dangerous than larger dogs.
Dogs *aren't* dogs; acting like they're all the same and there is no difference is irresponsible. You wouldn't recommend an elderly couple get a labrador, would you? Different dog breeds have different traits; it's why you tend to see more whippets and greyhounds on the race tracks than Saint Bernards, and why sled-mushers use huskies as opposed to bloodhounds. Each dog breed has different purposes; the ideal scenario would have potential dog owners do a lot of research before picking the best dog for them. I had my heart set on a husky, but after doing my research and finding out what escape artists they are, I went for a malamute instead.
So HOW can they be expected to live in a world full of other animals? Scout said: "they can expect to live in a world full of animals if they are kept responsibly, as with any other breed. the problems arise when people are irresponsible in their handling of any breed and when they do not respect their breed for what it is."
I couldn't have said it better. I own a dog who really hates some other dogs. There are some really submissive ones that he enjoys playing with, but in a group of dogs like at the vet or a park, he is going to hate a few of them.
So I keep him onleash when we go out. It's that simple. And not a raggedy thin leash with a loose raggedy collar, a sturdy leash and collar with sturdy hardware parts.
I don't take him to off-leash dog parks. We do go to regular parks ONLEASH. At these, the leash law is in effect and nobody should have their dog off-leash. Anyone who takes their small dog to a place where leashes are required is foolish and completely at fault if their off leash dog runs up to mine(who is ON-leash) barking and growling with it's hackle up and gets hurt. This happened to me recently except that I saw the Jack Russel coming and quickly picked Manson up around his chest so that he couldn't fight back. The little bugger was attacking him and biting his stomach. I was screaming bloody murder and his owner slowly waddled over and picked up the JRT, who then growled and bit at her. She didn't even apologize, in fact, appeared to be irked at ME. Heck, I should have called the police. They certainly would have if it had been Manson who was running loose and attacking people's dogs.

I think that alot of the problems arise because people with dogs that the general public don't view as problem breeds let their dogs run loose, even in onleash areas. I have 2 shibas and while they are usually very friendly my neutered male gets the idea in his head that he should protect Ruffian, so I am careful with him. But I go to some places and people think that they are small so I will let my dog run up to them, what the??? When I had my chow I never had to worry about that people saw her and would cross the road, she was friendly but people just wouldn't trust her. Ahh for the good old days,LOL.
There was recently a dog attack here in which a bull mastiff, loose ran up to a woman walking her small poodle and attacked it, after it ran away and the owner just ran off ater it, no appolgy ar anything. Some people just should't own dogs.
Nothing bad to say..but just because some pitbulls attack doesnt mean all of them are..They act how they are told to act or how their treated...theres only bad or retarded owners...I got my dog 5 years ago and now hes 12 years old...He used to get the crap kicked out of him by his old owners..Excuse my language..We saved him..by the way im 17...You would think since he was taught bad and had to fight other dogs all the time that he would be more of a threat but he has never bitten a person and he loves my baby brother...hes been around him since he was born for 3 years now..The only time he gets violent is if someones hurting someone else..Its just so dumb to think their all crazy...Okay thats like being racist..Im white...Some white people are crazy murdering nuts so should they kill all of us white people because a couple of us are physcos..NO..Your dumb if you believe that and you should be shot...I have another dog now too who is 1 year old and my pitbull has always been nice to her...my little dog doesnt like my pitbull in my room though and almost killed my pitbull...Ya know what my pitbull did..He walked away as fast as he could..she nearly killed him and we thought he would kill her because shes young and not a pitbull..but once we said "NO" he ran off..Then we spent time with them and helped them and now their like best friends....so if your pitbull goes crazy then its your fault and if you cant control your pitbull then you shouldnt freaking have one...If you hate pitbulls then your basically contradicting yourself when it comes to racism and other things...If you believe they should be exterminated then you are basically worst then those bad pitbulls owners them selves...That is all..Good Day
all dogs can attack, when a pit attacks a person its front page news, when a sheppard, russel or say a lab attacks its acouple pages away even if the attack was just as bad.what about the lady whose own dog ripped apart her face in france while she was sleeping and had the first face transplant, what breed was that,i cant remember cause they dont go on about it.
would I feel safer if there was a pitty ban here? No, I have never had a bad experance with a pitty. My cusion had a black one named raider when he was a kid and it was such a sweet nice well behaved dog.
The crazy meth lab people who used to live across the street had 2 pittys, They always came over to play from the day they got them untill the day we moved, I could see those 2 causing problems later though. The guy hits them alot has chucked tehm across rooms into walls and the lady is so wigged out she lets them outfrount then goes in the house.
this pot head was selling pitty pups and they were so cute and sweet. I had to check out the dad, He was that freak of nature pitty I asked about, Anyway you could tell he didnt want to hurt anything he just gave loads of kisses. The pups were nothing but over sized lap dogs.
I have herd alot of bad storys when it comes to pittys, My brother in law had one trying to get out of the crack of a car window. Somehow he manamged to push it down and got his frount half out. My brother in law was so mad he almost got in the drivers seat to beat the guy who was sitting there laughing. He didnt because his daughter was there and well seeing daddy beat someone is not a good thing.
even though I have herd alot of bad things I still like the breed. They are a great breed its just some people are A$$ holes and will breed them for dog agression, some of the A$$ holes will beat them hoping they will get mean enough to kill someone who might break in at some point in time, Other A$$ holes will fight them, Then of corse there are always the Big Boy Thugs who have them just to look Bad A$$ and dont give a crap about them. I cant tell yo uhow many times I have seen pittys on animal cops. One had her ears cut off with siccors because this kid was playing big boy thug and wanted a fighting dog, What did his daddy do? If i rember right he took them away and yelled at him. I could be wrog its been a wile sence i saw that.
they are good dogs with bad owners.

I understand your question, but I do not go to dog parks because malamutes, like pit bulls, are not "good dogs" to bring to dog parks. My dog wants to be an alpha, and when he runs into another alpha dog, they want to fight.
i am a pitt bull owner and he is the best thing that ever came into my life he is very loveable and he loves children i had got him from some people when he was 1 month old and them people was so mean to him they had the poor thing locked up in a seller with no food or water and in the dark when i got him i spent 500 dollars to nurse him back to health and now he is 5 months old now and the people that had him are in jail and has a fine of 2500 dollars for abuseing there animals .the way i see it they need to put the people in the same shape they did there pups where i live i have to pay 1000 dollars a year just to have him because of his breed but i think its worth it cause he is just like one of the family and i would never get rid of him .in my opinion its not what breed you have any dog can be mean and bite its just the way you take care of the animal ...
i was bit on the bottom of my foot by a pit- i was at at school play ground with my 1 1/2 year old daughter swinging on the swings and i was pregant for my third daughter and this guy had this pit just walking around. as i said i was swinging and my daughter was laughing and having a good time and this pit came up and bit my foot- he got the bottom of it because i was in the air on the swing- i said Oohh your dog just bit me and he looked at me like i was dumb and then said he was sorry and said the dog has never bite anyone before and that he probably thought that my daughter was being hurt by the noises she was making. and he said the dog had all its shots . i had a big gapping cut on the bottom of my foot and was bleeding every where- i went to my car and went home and cleaned it up and it was a pretty good bite its teeth had pulled back a big chunk of my skin. and that was that- i was dumb and young and never asked the persons name or took down any info i never went to the hospital- didnt know what to do- since then ive been very scared of all dogs- and just now that i have my own pups ive been alittle more relaxed but when i see any dog coming i walk way out of my way to walk around them even in the pet store or on side walks. im terrified of pits just for this reason. i dont knwo why this dog bit me and for the man to say oh its never bit anyone before im sorry- that was it and he started walking away with this dog- very dumb i know- i should of made a police report or something- if this dog would of bit my daughter believe me it would of been differnt- but i dnt like to cause a sene and i really didnt know what to do about it at the time-
