Pope1982 - I don't see where you would sum it up as me getting mad at all. Why don't you re-read the posts and see the "oh my gosh" statements of those that feel how dare I think that. Just because I have a counter statement does not mean I am angry. Too many times on this forum people make a statement that doesn't have anything to do with the point they try to make. Just like the one who proceeded to tell me that I am just a number to the government. Yeah, ok, whatever connection that is suppose to have. Nope , not angry at all, because I know everyone has their own opinions. Some I may like, some not. But so far, as of today, we are all allowed to have our own opinions. I just think that there are some very naive people here who cannot see the difference between opinions, facts, and statistics. And when a fact or statistic contains information they don't like of course there will be some people who try and call it something else.
"I once read an article that had gathered some information and ranked people who take good care of their dogs based on several things such as age, sex, education, location, nationality and yes even color."
How dare you state that I brought up race first. My comment was in response to this post that YOU made. Once again you have given your opinion to be "fact" yet have no hard research or this so-called article to back it up. Wasn't someone giving another poster a hard time because they didn't post the link to the articles they were posting. Well, at least they weren't pulling things out of their a** and calling it FACT.
In the future I would appericate it if you leave my name out of your post. I don't like to be associated in any way with a bigot.

Lately though I am getting quite a bit of applications from a younger age group, early - mid 20's would be my guess from the apps alone. Now in the past I have really not preferred to sell to that age. Why?
1. They are single and understandablely have a very busy life, as most young singles do. 2. They live with their boyfriend/girlfriend. The majority of these young relationships are not permanent. Where does that leave the dog when they split up? 3. They are in college. Not only where do they get the time for a puppy, but can they really afford the care.
Now when I read this I see "I don't want to adopt to people in their 20s". Now I could be wrong but those words above speak loud and clear.
I stated that I didn't know where I saw it and asked if anyone perhaps knew where I could find it. Nor did I intend to call the article a fact. What I meant by fact is the answers you would get about the vets clientele and such. YOU said you hoped I wasn't using the race issue in my decision making.
The problem in lays this is those problems are not soley involve younger people.
Marriages and relationship break up in every age range. Babies are being born to women every day in their 40s. People are going back to college in the 30-40 and beyond. To make it sound like it is just young people is wrong.
I have 3 dogs a turtle and a pet crawfish. I have been with my husband since I was 19. Dec will be our 5th wedding annivasary. We have 3 lovely kids who are great with animals. I would for someone to turn me down because I was young. Nothing more nothing less.
And in your case Rebel if you were to come to my home with your family and I could see that your children knew how to treat small dogs and were not wild and unruley, then certainly I would really consider you. But when I get calls from a 22 year old they don't exactley come as you just described yourself.
People should be exposed to the opinion. Because something is unplesant dosent mean it should not be read. It seems as if most disagree with the OP. I could be personally offended, becuase I am not. I don't need the OPs approval to justify myself. I doubt it even occured to her that her statment might be personally directed at anyone on the forum. Many of us have opinions and ideas that make sense when we view them from a small position.
However, Nievity will not solve the problem as well. Even in disagreement both sides should be understood to the full extend of our ability. Where a point comes from, the right and wrong of the concepts. Someties the expression of a thought can make people reexamine themselves and some of their own thoughts.
So let the thread stay civil. If it deterorates into a match of curses and viciousness then any point will be negated.
They are doxys dogs ,and she can sell them to whom ever she deems responsible enough to purchase them If age seems a factor ,then that's fine. I have to agree that most younger people are just not mature enough to own a dog.The commitment is not there yet for 15 years of their life. To the younger person it's about bars , clubs ,partying ,college ,not staying home to care for a pet. From my experience of employing young people at one time ,and now working side by side with them in the work force ,I see what goes on.Very far and few inbetween can take on the responsibility of a pet. As a matter of fact this guy I work with at work just gave up a beautiful brindle female Pit to the pound because him and his girl had no time for her. he was a young person.I agree with doxy on this point. I wish I could've taken her ,but I have 2 females of my own,I know it would've been a disaster.
Rebel - "Because all I have been able to see you say is people in their 20s make bad pet owners. "
And it's people like you who start trouble. You go ahead and find anyplace on my posts where I have said any such thing. You can't. And don't tell me it's what I meant because you aren't me.
I see where the screen name comes from.
Hey, just because Rebel cals himself/herself Rebel doesn't she/he is a bad person..Screenames are just screenames. You can't judge someone by what they call themselves. To me, Rebel is usually very nice, not a "rebel" at all.
Racism is horrible. BUT I do not believe that luvmydoxys is racist just because of those facts, however rude they were.
Guess what people. I am 14 years old. Got that? 14. A kid, really. But I don't think for a second that I don't take care of my dogs as well as someone older would.. For someone my age, I'm quite mature and repsonsible. My dogs' needs come before mine. I am white...but who cares what skin colour someone is? Really, we're all the same. I don't know why some people EXPECT african-americans to be bad.
I think this post is or has gotten off the beaten path..I understand what you were tying to say..and my opinion is...they are your pups...and you sell them or place them as you see fit..if some one much younger then you have in the past sold to give you a good feeling..i say go with your gut...if some one old, ethenic, no fenced yard...what ever the deal is..if it makes you think...then these pups are your responcability and as such they depend on you to make sure they get to the best sittuations..i hope all goes well..
Ok Lets say Im 50 and have had a heart attack and open heart sur. My daughter is going to graduate from HS next year and will be going off to col. I cant stand the thought of being alone in this house with a snoring husband and nothe to do so I am getting a Pom now should all of this make a differance what if I have another heart problem or maybe I will walk out side and get hit by a bus(well we live in the country guess that isnt pos.) Get my point? Age is not the only determination of a good pet owner.( even though I think I will be ok)
