I have a four year old Havanese and have been thinking about getting another one. Her son just came back to the kennel I got her from and they think he may have a stage one heart mumur. Not sure if I should be worried about that stage or just go ahead and offer to take him home with me.
how old is the puppy in question ? some heart murmurs puppies will grow out of. if the breeder is willing to pay for an ultrasound to find out what is wrong with the heart i would base my decision on the results of that.
if you want to take the pup knowing its problem i wouldnt necessarily say no. many dogs live long lives with heart murmurs. but i certainly wouldn't pay for the pup.
Absolutely; stage 1 is of no real concern besides which, as scout has said, most puppies will grow out of it. Even if they don't it doesn't really affect their lives; I had a chihuahua that lived to 17 yo and died as a result of a tragic incident and not due to the heart murmur that she was diagnosed as having when she was 3yo. I would definitely give this dog a home. Cheers.
