The other mice we caught before this one had basically gotten into every single drawer we had and pooped all over our hand towes and kitchen weare. They chewed throught he bottom of the china cabinet. Got into the couch cusions and literally ate their way through all 3 of the cushions. Chewed through boxes in the cupboard, loaves of bread.
I don't see the glue traps as being any more humane than the snap traps, and didn't see the point of a live trap when I was going to be feeding it to my snake anyway instead of releasing it. I'm just lucky enough to have a snake that will eat mice dead or alive.
We get mice all the time but they rarely last long in my hoouse.I guess the mice still haven't figured out that it's not the greatest idea to try and steal the cat's food specially if the cats are sitting there watching them. Its always funny to watch. But congrats on catching it.
I have used glue traps i put peanut butter in the middle and they walk on, the snap traps i could not get to work the mice would set them off when they would get the cheese, so i started using glue traps, I have also used the catch and release traps but the ones that i had bought were plastic and they chewed there way out .
To Minniyar : I am very sorry if i upset you. I did not know the story of your snake. Of course if he was born in captivity, you cannot release him in the wild. But i still think that snakes should not be sold as pets. They should be left alone in nature, same for birds, etc... You have a point with the mouse trap and unfamiliar territory, I never thought about it that way, although I do think a mouse can get used to a new environment and I don't think they die trying to get back to my house! You see mice as vermin, I see them as living creatures. You cannot compare buying meat from a store to feed yourself and your dogs (or your snake) to killing an animal yourself. And as I said in my previous post, what bothers me the most is the casual way people talk about killing a living creature. That's all!
obviously i don't like seeing any animal die but at my old work they had the glue trap set up and they caught a tiny mouse. it was struggling but obiouslt stuck there for good. it was breathing so hard and looked so scared that i made the busboy kill it. i cried but i knew that it was better then it having to die from fear or starvation.
if i had to use any i would use something that kills them fast. luckily i have my pets to worry about that and i don't have to. :)
I didn't kill the animal myself. My mousetrap did the killing for me. Kind of like the slaugtherhouse did the killling for me when it comes to my eating steak and chicken. Either way the animal dies and is consumed. How is it any different, please explain to me? Either way one animal died so another could eat.
