Hello all i am new to this forum hopefully someone can help me out. I have a 7 week old boston pup which i have had for a week. He will not drink water at all. I have been soaking his Iams puppy food in water 3 times a day so i know he is getting the water that way but im just curious as to if this is normal and if there is a way to get him to drink
If you are giving tap water and you are on public water try some bottled water
Sounds odd but the chlorine in your water may be turning him off. Its not a perment thing but until he learns to drink at your place.
This is not a shot at you but this is why I want people to wait to bring their puppies home so the breeder can be sure they are on a normal schedule and don't need special attention like making sure they are drinking.
Sounds like the breeder did not have the puppy drinking yet. Maybe still nursing mom. I would make sure his food was very soggy and keep a bowl of fresh water in front of him, and maybe show it to him often. I have raised Bostons and my babies are getting into mom's food bowl by 4 1/2-5 weeks of age and start drinking water at about 5 weeks of age. I don't let puppies go to their new homes unless I know they are weaned and eating and drinking on their own. Good luck, he should come around. I would make sure I had him checked out at my vet, also. CeCe
