What are you looking to spend? You're not going to find a great looking chihuahua for cheap. A cheap dog, means cheap quality. Also, odds are if you don't have the money to "waste" on the dog in general, then you don't have the money to "waste" on vet bills and the likes. If you are really serious, I do know a lady who has a beautiful blue merle chihuahua for sale right now.
Halosfire you need to calm down a little. Read what I wrote I said a arm and a leg for a unhealthy dog. I do not want to spend 1200.00 dollars and get a sick dog that looks like crap. I was wanting for someone to point me in the direction of a good, honest and trust worthy breeder. I do not have a budget for my dogs and spend plenty on them. So try and help people out instead of being critical. I see all these breeders charging 1200.00 for some CKC crap. I am looking for an AKC family pet. I do not care if they have limited registration. I just want a apple head with a cobby body and a small pug snout. I do breed but not toy dogs. I only breed American Pit Bull Terriers and only 3-4 bloodlines. I do not breed just to breed. Wow why are people quick to judge on this board instead of giving people the benefit of the doubt.
Halosfire thanks for the apology. I know they do not have pug noses per say but you know what I mean the tiny shorter snouted face. I do not really like the looks of the deer chi's or long faced ones. I like the big apple head with the tiny little noses at the bottom of there face. IF that makes sense?? Not sure what it is called in the chi world.
There are a few breeders on that list I wouldn't recommend. I don't want to bash them, so I won't say which ones. But I have talked to breeders and people that have bought from a few of those and there is one in particular that is a huge kennel and doesn't even do genetic testing on their dogs. They also have Chihuahuas available year round, which is a big red flag.
I would check into the AKC website and see if they could recommend a breeder in your state. Look for a breeder that does OFA testing, especially on elbows and knees. I would also steer clear of any breeder that advertises 'teacups'. Good luck! Chihuahuas are a great breed :)
IPN 169--- I will ship if needed and I want a pet but not a throw back from a litter. I want a certain look and I am not finding it in puppies that are available. I want the extreme apple head with a little snout and short, slick hair not ruffer short hair. I know I seem to be too picky but when it comes to a pet you spend a lot of money on and will have for the next 15 + years I think you should be super picky. Mathew Able-- thanks for all the links but there are only a couple pups out of all of those that I like and they are sold. LOL I am being super picky because I have been looking for so long.
I truly would (and want to, lol) but it's against the rules to bash breeders that could advertise on this site. And I'm not sure which ones do. Between your list and the one before it, there are 5 for sure that I absolutely wouldn't go with. One in particular. Check out the AKC website instead ;)
