I hope your all having a great day with your dogs :)
I have been reading the posts, some great stuff, as always. But I am not fully understanding the rules. And I am confused about links.
In some cases I see that people use links to breeder websites and the links are allowed, however, in other cases the links are pulled. Case in point: under the heading "scam" this topic contains a link to a "good breeders" website and a "bad breeders" website. And as the topic develops the "good breeder'" comes on line with a long post telling us how wonderful her kennel is.
While I think I understand why these links were allowed, they are presented by way of example, I have seen other cases where people used links to provide examples and the links were pulled.
Also, on the topic of "Please treat others with respect." What does this mean "respect"? How do the mods view this? For example, "you must be a bad dog owner", "stop acting like a child", "just shut up and go hide under a rock", "everbody thinks you are talking trash", are just some of the comments I have seen used in letters. How is this respectful, and why are these kind letters allowed?
Thanks you for taking the time to respond in advance.
Puppywishes....I've been wondering the same thing for some time now...and what you'll find is the rules tend to get bent for "long-term" members and friends of the Mods. Not always is this the case, but it does happen often.
Also, there is alot of "piggy-backing" going on between members. They team up against other members that have opposing opinions and alot of time get way out of line. This tends to happen to the newbies or those that express there opinions on topics that some are "overly" expressive about...such as breeding, pit-bulls, puppy-mills and so forth.
In my opinion, everyone should be aloud to express there opinions without being attacked or becoming the bullseye of the forum. Plus, several of the members need to realize that not everyone will or has to have the same opinions as they do.
I am a member of other forums and this holds true anywhere, HOWEVER why do you think certain members are friends of our moderators? Because they have been commited to hear for a long while and obviously have been dedicated and honest, not spewing useless information out as I have seen a bit of here in the past few days.
Sometimes breeders have valuable information on their websites, NOT reguarding their dogs or current litters.
How about you stop trying to mod and eitheir enjoy the forum or get lost.
There is no posting to sites were things that can be obtained on this site can be obtained. If its some info that is on a persons site that doens't sell pups but for example says how to post ears that is allowed. But if it is a site selling dobe pups it is not allowed.
Not to mention did you look at the age of that post? As it developed yrs later..........Get over it. the rule wasn't even around then.

I hate to touch this with a 10 foot pole! But I have too.LOL! I can see your point of views but I've also been here long enough to recongnize spammers and very bored people with nothing to do but stir the pot. It gets very irritating when your trying to have a discussion and the person turns out to be troll. Though,I have seen people plug thier websites and kennels with out it being deleted and wondered about that myself..but I thought maybe thier paid advertisers?
Puppywishes...that was my next comment....I almost bet that sadly your post will go unnoticed and will end up on page 6 with barely any comment. I've tried this before, just like you are now. And what I've come to understand is this forum has rules but they are bendable based on your user name and the topic. I will be very surprise to see anything come of this posting. Sad but true. Although I'm with you regarding the topic. I think several members are very rude and things are allowed to go on for way to long with out a Mod stepping in.
Hence, case in point...Joce's rude remark. It was unnecessary. Puppywishes shouldn't have to suck it up or move on....that's why there are rules.
here guys http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp *any one of the threads with the two newest members last night are perfect examples of troll threads,if you don't get it sorry but thats how it is. trolls are not members of the forum, they do not get treated with respect because they do not deserve it. Maybe you guys cna not tell who is a troll but its a litle easier for those of us who have been around longer.
My comment was sooo blatently rude. You guys fail to relaize the mods work there butts off keeping the place free of trolls and they do it for free and you still have the nerve to complain about a post that is a freakin yr old?! to complain that the trolls are not treated with respect? It is not their responcibility to make sure your questions-that were jsut answered-are answered. how many people belong to this forum? they can't make everyone happy.
Maybe you could explain why any of that matters?
Let the forum go to the trolls, think you'll be abloe to post any more or enjoy the forum?
Obviously trolls are not generally people who have been here long enough to get a high post count, didn't think that was that hard to figure out:)

Hey wait a minute! Your being rude to me now. I'm a senior member but I dont think I deserve to be stero- typed. I feel many members do get carried away with thier opinions and defend thier points of view but this is a discussion board that is expected. After all what would a forum be with out debate?
Joce...we're not talking about trolls...we're talking about how "rude" behavior is aloud and how some links posted are looked over while others arent. I don't give two cents about trolls, it's the "members" and their behavior that matters. And I thing the "respect others" rule gets looked over to often.
"How about you stop trying to mod and eitheir enjoy the forum or get lost."
I do not mean to single out joce, because I don't know this person at all, but there does seem to be a group of members who set a terrible example by simply being rude. It is one thing to post a view that few people agree with. But when members come out and out with words like "enjoy the forum or get lost", how is this respectful.
I am writing an artical about dog forums for my website. "the best and worst of...." and I must say, for reasons unknown to me, this is one of the most temperamental forums I have seen.
Having said this, I am NOT (repeat NOT) saying that any single person is temperamental so please don't get upset, rather, I am saying that the mods allow just enough general slamming to make this forum seem rather aggressive.
Truthfully, you're bound to see that some of us older members SHARE the same opinion on some things. We don't try to "piggy back". We just happen to have helped educate one another on topics that pop up here repeatedly. As we're avid "dog people" we've done A LOT of research into different aspects of the dog world and when we see someone spreading BS that obviously hasn't done any research into what they are talking about we are bound to call them on it. I don't think any of us get together secretly and conspire to gang up on someone. I think we just happen to have read the same books, have had some similar experiences, etc...
And respecting one another doesn't equal sugar coating everything. I will be the first person to say that I'm nice to people who I can see have good intention behind their inquiries and more blunt when I see that someone is asking a question they obviously only want one answer to (the one that will make them feel good about a choice they have already made). I equally expect people to call me on things they don't agree with that I say. That doesn't mean I'm going to change my opinion EVERY time. I'll consider what everyone has to say as long as what you're telling me has some research to back it up. I am NOT going to agree with someone else just because they say something is true. Like I said, I've done enough research myself to know what is crap and what is worth considering or looking in to further.
And I don't know if I was included in that group of "older members" or not. I don't really care. Most of the older members here I really respect as I've learned a lot from them. I have different opinions on many many things than some of them. Scout and I have butted heads on more than one topic. We have respectful debates, we often agree to disagree, and we get one with things. (and I'm using Scout as an example - I think I've disagreed with every Mod or older member on one topic or another) Scout's been here a lot longer than me (as have most of the older members as I've only been here a little over a year) and I had to EARN any respect I get from her. One I first joined TP I wasn't the same person or breeder I am now. I GREW as I hope every person does from year to year. I come to TP for entertainment, but also to learn. If everyone here agreed with everything I did or said I wouldn't be learning anything.
While it's fun when everyone shares the same opinions, it doesn't help any of us grow as people.
And I do try very hard not to call names. I am a firm believer in attacking the post, not the poster. (someone else always says that - I don't remember who, but it's a great line - might be Pyrmom...)
And the Mods job is not to babysit and make sure everyone here is all lovey dovey. They are regular posters just like you and me. It's their job (which they DO NOT get paid to do - it is strictly volenteer) to make sure the board isn't spammed and that things don't get TOO out of control. I'm pretty sure MOST of us are adults - or mature young adults at the least. We should be able to police ourselves. I think the Mods do a great job. I DON'T want their job!!!
If it was any other forum I was on there would be a lot mroe people banned! they put up with a lot here.
puppywishes-the forum is not going to change because you demand it. thats rude of me to say? You seem to think it should because you want everyone to be nice to you or what? the world doesn't revolve around you. this is the internet, lots of people enjoy it and live happily-some jsut can not understand that its a forum-people have diffrent opinions and not every forum is meant for everyone. and I'm sorry your offended but you do need to accept it or move on.
I think the reason things get tense around her eis because so many people that start things are allowed to stay. If they got rid of them there would be no tension but your still complaining that not everyone is treated fairly?

Joce is right......and it is true to suck it up or move on. We are not 'special' because of our titles.......it just means we have 'sucked it up'. The rules are the rules and the mods to the best they can keeping the forum cleaned up. They get paid nothing for this. The trolls and trouble makers is what ruins this forum, no one is 'ganging up' on the newbies. The simple fact is, many of us have been here for awhile and seen this place go to **** just because one or more of us have the same point of view does not mean we are ganging up, it means we have the same point of view. So, yes, suck it up or move on is the key. 'some' here have made a point to make new topics in point to cause trouble. No wonder they arent given a welcome hug.
puppywishes look at the threads from last night from malteseweimluver13 and the sheltie person.
Those are trolls. they are not usually hard to pick out but there are always people who don't get it. are you on any other forums? If you have not ocme across trolls then those forums are even mroe strict and probally ban any questionable person that comes along.
