The toy poodle is scheduled to be spayed soon but I was wondering since she has a sort of 'prominant' private, is this maybe due to having had puppies in the past or just how she is? We've had many female dogs in the past and none of them looked like this. Maybe Im just weird or something.. lol Anywho, here is a pick of her "back side". Its not the greatest but I didnt wanna chase her around the yard trying to take a pic of her back end LOL
It could very well be from having had pups before. Though I have females that have had pups and they shrink back down to the original tiny size. And our Beagle, who has never had puppies is quite large ever since her first heat, it stayed on the larger side after.
IMO the surefire way to tell if a bitch has had a litter before is by the size of the nipples; I don't think you can be sure by judging the size of her "below" area as simply having a season is enough to increase the size even without having had a litter. I can always tell by the size of their nipples. Are you able to take a photo of her tummy providing that the chest area is able to be seen amongst all the coat.
I was just wondering why her back side was so prominant vs all the other spayed female dogs we've had thruout the years. 3 of them were rescues, had puppies here and their nipples didnt look any diff than the dogs we had as puppies that never had puppies.
I have a 1 year old female french bulldog who just finished her first heat cycle (she is due to get spayed next month) Anyways.....since we got her at 4 months old her nipples have been much more pronounced than my other frenchie (who seems to have none) In my experience the nipples don't always mean a pup has nursed from them either.
I disagree with you in that bitches that have nursed have the same size nipples of those that haven't nursed puppies. There is definitely a difference, those that haven't nursed pups only have a dot of a nipple, it isn't pronounced in the least whereas those that have nursed have a nipple similar to a tick before it becomes engorged with blood, if you know what I mean.
My frenchie who has the nipples are about 1/2 and inch long (guessing here, not the best at measurements) She's never been bred and they were like this when we got her. I'm not saying that all dogs who nurse or don't nurse all have the same size nipples. My older frenchie doesn't have any they're like a speck in her belly that you can't feel. I'm saying that genetically and structurally dogs are different and not all dogs are fortunate to have dots of nipples though they've never had puppies. What could explain Pi having these protruding nipples if she's never had pups?
I disagree on the nipple issue. I own proof, lol. I have females who have had pups and theirs are tiny. I also have a couple here that have never had pups and theirs are big. As far as the female anatomy...same thing, a couple have large prominant anatomy and never had pups, and some have tiny anatomy and have had puppies. It is just the individual dog.
