Merphy prefers to pee on concrete (really carpet, but he's been trained out of that). I think grass irritates his private area. He'll lift his leg at the perimeter of the grass, but usually he just pees on a plant while standing on the concrete around the pool. So, grass burns are not an issue...but rabbits are! But, when I get a house, I want to have that artificial grass put in.
I have this one for my 2 shibas it works for smaller dogs, I had to set it on sidewalk blocks so Tonka couldn't dig to freedom, But it is tall enough that he wouldn't climb it, but fo the next dog either a bouvier or an afghan I would never use one first not big enough, and the chainlink is a small guage. I had one on my trailer back home and it was 10 feet by 36 feet and had pea gravel for the bottom, I loved it, but it was built in so I had to leave it, I dont want to build a perminant one again because leaving it sucked. I also had lyme under the gravel because it helps keep the urin oders down, but the weeds still grew go figure.
merico it was a 6 by 6 by 4 ft tall kennel. i forget how much i threw out the flyer. also petsmart sells these things, they look like giant golf tees adn they are supposed to be covered in pheromones or something to attratc them to pee in that one spot. only near the golf tee. no idea if they work. i was giving the pee pills and they didnt seem to be making a difference. we have a few spots that grass will not grow in no matter that i try; those spots are, maybe, grapefruit sized and theres a handful of them. but thats not from pee i dont think. we dont have a burn problem here. wonder if its only certain food/water/doggie systems...?
TM, what are the name of those pills? I have a friend that has a real problem with that. Well, actually her husband does and wants to get rid of the dog. THat seems like it would be a big help for them.
Kyra goes where ever...stains are not a problem...lucky me I guess! I know of several people that have tried the pee pills. There are the green-ums, nutri-vet makes green grass and then my friends dog that doesn't take pills, she used a product called G-Wiz.
Mafia, it's somewhat like AstroTurf, but a little more advanced. There is some stuff that gets really really hot in the sun, but if you buy the good stuff that is made partly with cork, it doesn't get hot. It also has a drainage system (pee sinks down and is absorbed by the sand, gravel and something black, so it doesn't stink). They also make a sanitizer for it, in case you have lots of dogs. In my opinion, it makes it easier to clean up potty messes...and I won't have to buy a lawn mower or sprinklers.
I liked the gravel because the pee just wnet under and I rarely had to wach it off, like the stones other wise they would stink, but picking mu poop was easier with the stones. All in all I think the gravel looked better though. As for the small build kit kennelthe bonus to it was that I could move it where I wanted and to an new place if I moved, something to consider if you are renting or or may move, I hated to leave my big dog run. but I had no choice
Hello, back to the post about these pee pills... silly i know i also have never heard of such a thing but now im interested... I do give my bunny some stuff i forgot the name but i put 4 sqirts in her water bottle, it takes out the acid or what ever of her pee so it doesnt smell like pee, it isnt a strong order at all . and believe me this stuff works great! Is this pee pill something like that? does it make the pee not smell so strong? Well like pee anyways? This could be something i could be interested in trying if it does work on the ordor part. I will go back and see if some one posted a link to this wonder pill...lol to find out more about it...
