I met Raven's mother maybe 2 years ago on a pit bull forum. She is a wonderful kind woman who won an award for her work in pit bull rescue. She has done and continues to do so much in fostering and rescue, and at the same time works diligently to support finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Now she needs our help. I cannot even imagine the way she must feel every single day, not knowing how much longer her daughter will be with us.
I know that most here are from the U.S, but we can help by passing on the information about the show(s) that will benefit a charity to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. There is also a Myspace page for the event: http://www.myspace.com/rockinforraven If you have a myspace page you can add to friends, and it will help get exposure for the event. You can also put a banner on your site. I can show you how if you don't know. Maybe those in Canada can go rock out!
Thanks for reading, and please re-post wherever you can.
shiny, CF is a horrible thing. my ex hub had (has) it. his sister died from it. care is advancing so rapidly that many CF kids are able to live long into their adult life (30's) whereas befor emost didnt see HS graduation. i feel for what this woman is going thru. i lived that like myself as a spouse/partner for 9 years and it is debilitating, mentally, emotionally adn physically.
Shinyblackpit , you hit home this time not about pets but about something I deal with everyday my self. my son who is 17yrs old also has cystic fibrosis he too was born with it at birth I pray to God everyday they hurry up and find a cure for cystic fibrosis.hes an out- patient at children memorial hospital here in chicago. I would like to say something here. everyone who suffer with this diease which is a lung diease is different. So far he's doing really good although he has his days he has been bless he only takes his med oral thank GOD again no tubes in his stomach. so my heart goes out to your friend I know what she's going through. now you see why i like tp so much .. i'm at work & i'm always on here to keep other things off my mind.sometime people dont like coming on here telling their personal problems due to the fact they are afraid they might get bash. this is the reason i try not and dont want to bash people b/c you never know what goes on behind close doors.I have seen where ones will come on here and try to say something personal about their husband or money problems and got bash from one end of the board to the next topic. I try really hard to think before i type and say to myself hmm.. I just wonder whats going on at home in order for this person to come on here and be so ruled to say something like that or i just leave it along. or maybe the person is just like that. beats me.
Eskiegirl, question for you can men with cf farther children? The doctor's told me no.but when Darius was born it was this kid in the hosp/ named walter and he said he had a child 1yr old i almost felle backwards... he was 19 at the time.so i ask a nurse about it if it was true and she told me yes. i block it out my mind every since that day but i did tell my son it's a possibly he cant farther kids he said i dont care mom they too much trouble any way ..i said like you. we laugh and hug each other.
I wasn't sure about posting that here since it isn't directly dog related, but I am glad that I did because it sounds like it is particularly relevant to a few of you! God bless you!
On the main site there is a section called volunteers where you can give your contact info if you wish, and if you have any talents that could be useful, whether it be spreading the word, making graphics, coming up with creative ideas, or if you know of any bands that might be interested in participating.
Silky, it's a cross-country 3-day benefit. If you click on "shows" in the link provided, it lists the desired locations. It's still in the early stages of development, so all the bands are not booked yet, they are still looking for more musical talent!
I will pray for all the families that deal with this! I would like to know more about CF. Thank God I haven't personally ever had to deal with this BUT... I would like to know more about it, How can people help?!
If you click on the very first link I posted, at the bottom left of the page is a lavender colored box with a link for more info on CF.
This is the spot to go to give contact info. It says they need anything you can bring to the table, and has a spot for you to comment. You can tell them what you can do there or ask if they need whatever it is you have to offer. http://www.rockinforraven.com/volunteer.htm
