When we first baught our little Abby last year and little Sadie at Christmas time our walks were only up to the corner and back. But when spring came we starting walking our normal route low and be hold all the big piles of dog poooo. My why can't people when walking there dogs pick up after their pets. When we walk the girls we carry a pocket full of little old fashion tie sandwich baggies to pickup there little piles. I am so sicken by these neighbors who have huge dogs who poo piles that look like small logs picking them up. I know our town has a pooper scooper law and a quite steep fine, I have not ever heard of it being enforced here. My husband and I wish more owners here would be responsible any suggestion on what we could do to get our neighbors to pick up after there dogs when walking them.
I hate it when people don't clean up after their dog. It doesn't require much thought. Bring a plastic bag, simple. I get so pissed when there's a huge poop on OUR lawn. It's the law, to clean up after your pet. I mean, have a little respect. I pick up Max's poop in my OWN yard. Jeez, people, people, people ..
There is a huge problem where I live too. Sometimes I feel like I am getting stared at when I walk Cootie past one's lawn because they are ready to yell at me if I don't cean up. I use shopping bags which I tie to my flexi lead.
I dont let Ruffian and Tonka on ppls lawns here we have the grass on both sides of the sidewalks they can go on the street side, but not in ppls yards.
And you wanna talk sick I live in the basement of and apartment building and have ppl letting their dogs crap outsode my windows and not picking it up, I just have to tell the management who and they can get kicked out
At least where I live, going to the city council does no good. My city is dealing with all sorts of major crimes (murders, robberies, assaults, etc. are on the rise), and there is no time or resources to devote to enforcement to annoying but "little" crimes such as not cleaning up after your dog. Maybe if there is a neighborhood association or something like that, they would pay to put up the signs. But without enforcement, signs do no good (as I find out when I try to drive the speed limit....).
Good luck dealing with this rather unpleasant problem.
I live in a resort town so except for summertime when the population explodes it is more like a small town area. When there is a problem we just put a free, anonymous entry in the local paper which has a "spout off" area and we tell it like it is. It does have some rules such as no bashing or name-calling. Usually an entry such as "will the lady living on Oak St. with the black lab PLEEZE pick up after it? I'm tired of stepping in your dog's doo!" will so shame the person that the behavior will be corrected, since everyone in town will know who is being talked about. We do have leash and pooper scooper laws but the spout off gets quicker results. We even have someone who does poo pickup as a regular house-call business for those people who can afford to hire someone else to do the dirty work, lol. They've been in business for years.
It never failed if I took my kids to the park they either stepped in poo or fell in it. As they got older it was on soccer fields and we parents ended up showing up to games with shovels and bags to collect before games. Back in those days they didnt have dog parks and it would irk me something awful. Alot of irresponsible owners dont worm the animals and then small kids play in the parks or yards and they are exposed to this. It comes down to respect.
funny I had a neighbour who did that they had 2 toy poodles that they wanted to let them crap in my front yard, well my dogs were always in the back yard, so my x gattered up all of their dog poo from out yard and put it in a bag on their step and told them if they dont stop then we will start bringing our 2 shibas and our chow to their yard to crap they stopped
Ha ha Ruffian. I used to live in an apartment where the lady across the hall would leave bags of trash in front of her door, but it would block me from getting down the stairs. It was nasty....ladies, if you leave your trash bags in public places, please refrain from using clear trash bags. I got so sick of it, I went and put my trash in front of her door, too (but I use white bags). She could have easily just dropped her trash bags off her balcony, and they would have landed in the dumpster.
But back to the topic, I hate when people let their dogs roam in my front yard. We don't have sidewalks, so you have to walk in the street. Merphy is trained to not step up onto the curb unless invited.
This is bringing back memories lol. My parents used to live near a neighbour that owned a large dog which means large poo poos and this dog had been trained to poop just about anywhere and everywhere except his own home, he would often go to my parent's front garden and do his business there, on the council strip, there was an apartment across the road and the gardener would come every fortnight to mow the lawn and it would be practically covered in dog poop and my parents knew only too well who the poop belonged to; mum got sick of having to clean up after her dog and as she was chatting to this neighbour mum mentioned this to her and she just thought it was funny and laughed it off and said that it wouldn't take my mum too long to pick it up!
Sorry I haven't been able to get I want to thank everyone who replied glad to see we are not the only ones in this situation. Yes, talk to city about it wrote a letter to the editor of our newspaper and still nothing. Its not one of the major issue for our town either. With all of our factories closing down here and 150 to 200 people any given week being laid off dog poo isn't high on the list of priorities.
I am at work right now so will have to watch the video clippet when get home tonight.
thanks everyone for sharing helping me through this.
