Thanks to all of you for making me think. It occurred to me last night that you see all of these shows on animal planet for the ASPCA where they adopt out. Well, of course there is not one where I live. But I figured San Antonio is a big city and they would probably have one. So I got on the internet this morning and found one. Then I remember someone here said they took you more seriously if you went in person. So, I packed up the kids, called hubby, and drove to San Antonio in the pouring rain. Took me 3 hours, lol. Found out they do have a dane that just had puppies. They are too young to be released yet, but after speaking with the counselors there and they called my vet here and my references, I am set to be able to pick up a little girl, merle end of next week when she should be ready to go. I had to sign a spay/neuter contract since she will not be old enough when I take her. I agree to have her fixed with my vet and provide them verification, complete her puppy shots, keep up on her regular shots, heartworm meds, etc. She is so cute. Almost 5 weeks old. Now, is that fate or what? Any suggestions with names? My daughter says Daisy. Her mom is a harlequein and dad is a fawn. They had them both there, beautiful dogs. But, of course I knew that bringing a puppy into my house would be better for the dogs I already have.
Thanks all. I really am feeling like this was fate. I didn't even know that they had pups, just took a chance.
I always have a hard time with names. Daisy is cute, but I'm just not sure. DH said whatever I want, but he doesn't think it fits with the size of the dogs. I don't know, maybe something will jump out when I get to know her better.
On the other hand, I already have Ariel, but then Rusty, Bailey, and Lady. Maybe I should try and stay away from the long e sound at the end. You think it might get confusing?
~Gina~ Congrats on becoming a new Puppy Mom! I bet she looks beautiful. I can't wait to see the photos of your fur baby!
As far as names go... I've learn't to hold back until at least a week. Then you can see her little personality emerge. I have a 3 month old JRT. Who originally was named Digger. Well after a week I changed his name to Turbo... it suits him much better! (LOL)
