My vet called this morning and Mandy's tests came back okay. I still say since we have been going through this ordeal with her back leg, that the frontline plus was the cause. I know they don't won't to admit it because they still say it was nuerological, but she was fine until the frontline was put on her and in an hours time she was dragging her back leg and foot turning under. Thank God she is okay now and never, ever will I put chemicals on my babies again. Love my schnauzer babies.
We had 2 cats (one of which was only 3wks old!!) that a VET put flea meds on (cant remember if it was advantage or frontline now) but they both ended up w/a temp paralysis and at the emergency vet. After spending a few hundred on each cat theyre both now fine. I dont however use flea stuff on them or any of the cats now. Only on the dogs on an as-needed basis. We've invested in lice combs since the teeth seem to be a bit closer together than the flea combs and keep em combed best we can and drown the fleas we get off that way in soapy water.
We are real fortunate not to have any flea problems but one of my friends said to try Frontline that it might help Mandy's allergys. So, stupid me, thought it might help her not to be so itchy and the vet really did not want at that time to give her another allergy shot. I regret so much trying that stuff. I know everyone's dogs are different just like we all don't react the same way to different meds but I just think those chemicals are bound not to be good for them. It has been awhile now and she has not had anymore problem with that leg.
We swept Borax into our carpet years ago and haven't seen a flea since. It was real easy. Sweep in, let sit, vacuum, done. I have a husky that always has the itchies. We have eliminated chicken from her diet as the allergen. When she eats chicken, she chews bloody holes in her fur. The rest of the time I keep Tavist on hand just in case. Many people use Benadryl, I prefer the Tavist as it is 12 hour. Albertsons has a generic made by Equaline (I think) called DayHist. It is the same compound as the Tavist and matches our vets. Works great when Romi's allergies flare.
So glad to hear Mandy's doing better.

I know I am as bad over these dogs as I am my kids. Well, they are my kids. I told the vet that I guess the only problem that little fatty has then is her weight, and she laughed and said yes. We call Mandy our little garbage disposal. What Max and Tina don't finish at breakfast and dinner, Mandy eats. Nothing is wasted with this little pig.
