I don't like one more than the other. but I do like different aspects of their personalities more than the other.
Jasmine is so calm and patient. You can bring her anywhere and you wouldnt know shes there. I love that about her. I love how laid back she is. Riley on the other hand is a pain in the butt, bring him anywhere and you have to entertain him. But he has such a love of life itself, hes always smiling and wagging his tail, always happy. I love his spark and his energy.
Jasmine is a scaredy cat for sure. She's always cautious and not sure of things. Riley is a go getter. I love that. He's afraid of nothing (except big rocks). He'd protect me with his life, and has protected me. Jasmine hides behind me.
They are both so loving and affectionate and couldn't choose a favorite.
My two MS boys are so much sweeter and loving than my female Wirehaired Fox Terrier. She is great when she is on her own, but will only cuddle with you when she wants to, not when you do. I love her to death but she can be such a b*$ch to the boys sometimes, chasing and trying to attack them for no reason. Thank God they are submissive and don't fight back. I think that it might be that males are more affectionate, but then my female springer was the sweetest dog ever. The same almost goes for my skin kids, the 14 y.o. boy is ok most of the time, but the 16 y.o. girl is well, a typical moody teenager. But I love them both just the same.
I only wish I had a second dog to compare to. My husband didn't talk to me for a week when I brought home Precious and I think if I got another one it would be grounds for divorce!! J/K Seriously though, I'm not going to press my luck :( though I know Precious would love a playmate!
My first dog hated me and loved my mother. I was at the bottem of the list.
Now that I've learned how to properly select for temperment and personality when I pick another dog I'm doing okay. I like diffrent things about everyones personality and I do like some dogs more then others. Some are latched into your soul from the moment they are born and others grow on you until you can't envision life without them. I don't fully bond with every puppy I keep and it makes me a bit ill to have to part with the ones I do bond with.
Males are often easier then females, yes. Not always. Sometimes it is just our experince that helps mold the second third and fourth dogs into better companions as well.
I like the first one best, Jim likes the second one best and the third one makes us both crazy! LOL We love them all for different reasons as they all have different personalities. Our male is the most lovey dovey of the three by far.
I don't love any one of them more than another. But, with three their personalities are so different. Max is real layed back, likes for you to love on him and then he will go on to do something else. Tina is little miss independant. She growls (just fusses) when you pick her up. She loves to love on you at her choice, not yours. But, crys when I leave her. Mandy stays with me constantly. She will lay her head on my shoulder and no matter where I am, she is there. Its amazing how different they are and I find the girls are really more loving than any of the males I have had, even though they like to be loved on, it is different with the littel girls.
I can honestly say that my luv for both of my dogs is the same. However I luv them differently as they are very when compared to each other.
I also think my comfort level is much better with my second dog. When I had my first dog I was both worried and stressed over everything that entails puppyhood! (LOL) With my second dog I'm much more relaxed... :)
I am closer to Ruffian because she is my first dog, I spent 2 years with just her, I then bought Tonka. I kinda feel Tonka got shafted, but I got pregnant just after I brought him home, had I knowen I would have let him go to a different home. But since being with my current boyfriend, he is much better off Tonka has bonded to him like no one else. Do I like Ruffian more, maybe, but I love them both the same.
Shea is so laid back and can sometimes get a wild streak where she bounces and bounds around. But mostly she is the one that you just could trust with any person, no matter what age.
Shane is a wound up male. He could run and pounce and bound around all day if you let him. He also is the first one to you to get attention. He can't get enough of it.
Adrianna is very mellow (even though she can escape anything we put her in). She can sit back and wait for everyone else to get attention and when they are done she will come for hers. She could sit there for hours getting her belly rubbed, but as soon as someone else wants attention she goes off and does her own thing. And boy is she fast!
Cherokee is so hyper. She loves to jump, pounce, run around and act like a kid on a sugar high. She can't get enough attention and loves to push her way through to everyone and get hers first.
And hobie-----oh can't wait to bring him home today.
Sandysbabies, Wow does this sound familiar! "She growls (just fusses) when you pick her up. She loves to love on you at her choice, not yours. But, crys when I leave her."
That is miss Sadie to a T!
I thought it was hilarious the first time my mother visited and tried to scoot Ms. Stubborn (because she refused to budge. That's another story though lol) when she stole her spot on the couch and she grumbled. I thought she was going to have a heart attack lol I'm so use to it and I forgot to warn her....
Now she gets a kick out of it and teases her when she is being a little snot. I will have to make a video of it one day. It's especially when you pick her up like a baby on her back....she grunts and groans. Same routine every night when the other half comes to bed. I know when he climbs in because I hear her grumbling when he moves her from my side to my feet so he can lay down lol
With all that noise it suprises everyone that she's got a great temperment and that she would NEVER bite or nip though. It's more a vocal protest :)
She also groans and sighs constantly when she's sleeping. Don't get me going on the gorilla and pig noises...
P.s. Merico, sorry I jacked your thread hun...just had to share my schnauzer experience ;) And to answer your question no, I don't prefer one dog to the next. I love my male toy poodle just as much as my female miniature schnauzer.
With my 2 dogs, I take turns liking one or the other best.
Today I like Grace better. I just discovered that Reese dug up my ficus tree that I planted. He's sneaky and does it around the corner where I can't see him. It's one bad habit I can't seem to break him of.
Tomorrow Grace will get in the pool, get out, roll in the dirt, and then get back in the pool. Reese doesn't do this because he's like a cat, hates water.
Yesterday I liked my 2 dogs better than my Hubby. He really got on my nerves resulting in a severe case of Men-itis.
I will always like Leeza more then Ozzy.Shes the first, smartest and the most people friendly. Don't get me wrong Ozzy loves people, but he doesn't cuddle at all.(To much of a boney butt) But I enjoy takeing Ozzy for walks more because he gets along with everyone, Leeza Doesn't. But I wouldn't give him up, Leezas 12 and a half, and Ozzy is 9 and a half. They ain't going anywhere.
