Thank you for very quick replies. I also thought this must be some kind of a great dane but I've searched A LOT of sites and I've never found a black one. Are they so rare? Because I think they're very beautiful and I'd pay a lot to own one.
Ini the picture that looks likea blue great dane but in actuality it's a black great dane next to a black and white chihuahua. That whole picture is kind of 'blued out'. It was an advertisment for InSiteOne's "dare to compare" campaign. It's a neat comparison of size though.
Black Danes are very common, many people want the more flashy colors like Harlequins, mantles, brindles, things like that. Black Danes are very easily bred, while other colors are a little harder, I suppose. Sorry to answer for someone else.
Laredos-mom got it right IMO. I don't breed blacks, but they do naturally come out of Harlequin breedings. It has been my experience that these are the hardest to place and I won't plan a litter until I have one or two homes lined up that want black pups. I honestly couldn't tell you why this is, but I'm guessing it's for the same reason the Laredosmom stated, the blacks are real common and the easiest color to get.
people like rare colors like the harls and merles. Black is just an average color so they are bought less often. Also they tend to be smaller than the harls and merles.when people wnats danes most want oversized danes.
Also big balck dogs can be more intimidating or mean looking.
