True enough eh. I've seen too many breedings of 'my dog is so cute and the most perfect bestest' which of course never helps the gene pool in any breed.. But I've seen some really 'special' breeders. Perfect CH dog to an untitled dog that doesn't look bad.. but you wonder..
It's not DOL. It's one that's a lot nicer to people.. lol. Not sure I can post a breed specific board on this board though..
Yeah, you can breed a Ch. stud to a untitled female, that came from good lines and still end up with horrible quality dogs. I think Ch. studs should be bred to CH. bitches..in my opinion. Even then, the pups could turn out terribly, but there is a better chance of an excellent show-quality pup.
LOL! I know exactly what you mean about DOL..some folks on there are quite rude. Thanks!

Oh I agree. I'd rather not see anything without a CH fild title or conformation title bred really. But like that'll happen anytime soon.. I just have seen a lot of weird looking danes lately.. And I think to a point either people don't know they did buy from a sketchy breeder and are passing off a dog who isn't fully the standard as from a good breeding cause they don't know maybe.. Never know. I am dying for my first dane baby. Had an offer for a pup from a really great breeder, but the time isn't right yet *cries*
Yeah, I highly doubt people will start breeding like that. I know SOME do, but there are so few good breeders out there. They will boast how nice their dogs pedigree is, with all the champions, and the only champion will be way back.
People are starting to breed "brindlequins" and "fawnequins" now too. It's so sad. People are only trying to go for pet quality. How can you POSSIBLY better the breed when you don't try to get close to the standard?? I just don't get it.
You're doing the right thing by waiting. You will know when the time is right. Hopefully that time will be soon though! LOL!
laredos_mom this is the same for all breeds there are fools out there breeding for just pets, it suckz. When I got my 2 Shiba-Inu they wre not all that popular, in fact it wasnt until Ruffian was 6 and Tonka was 4 before I seen another one that wasnt at a dogs show or breeders. Now they are all over and they are in all these 'rare' colors too. Shibas come in only 3 accepted colors Red, most preferable, Red Sesame, most common, and Black and Tan, least preferable(but my fav). I have seen more and more creams, pintos, red-headed black and tans and other bad colors in the last 3 years than I have seen proper colors, it makes me sick. But they are small easy to keep few health problems and cute pups so they fly off the pet shop shelves, bleck.
It is horrible, I know. :( "People" are getting up to $1500 for these "rare" colors in Danes. I don't know about Shiba-Inu, but I'm sure "breeders" are jacking the "rare" colors prices up as well.
You can buy an AWESOME pet quality, or even show-quality pup from an excellent breeder that has done health testing on all of her dogs, that shows, and really cares about the breed for $1500. And it won't cost you another $1500 to get the animal healthy.
These people treating animals wrong by breeding them until they die, will get what is coming. In the long run, they'll be the ones paying for it. I just wish that the animals didn't have to suffer for them.
