Haven't been on in a while so I thought I would say hi. And I do have a question to ask. My Great Dane's nails were clipped by me about 2 months ago. They weren't cut to short. I feel there pain if I cut in the quick cause they will usually nip me. But anywho. I've noticed that now all of his nail are shaved down to almost the quick. I have a grass back yard with a concrete patio by the door about 10x10. He is usually inside with all carpet except the kitchen/dining room that's lanolium (however you spell it).
Should I be worried about the shortness of his nails? And is there anything I can do to help protect them? If he was my 4 y/o daughter I would tell him to quit biting his nails, but I know that's not the problem.
I doubt you should be worried. I keep our hounds a cement floored kennel and just from thier weight the cement keeps them worn down so we dont have to deal with trimming. The ones on dirt are rotated to the cement kennel to keep thier nails and feet tough. Its helps prevent feet/nail injury while hunting in all sorts ground cover. It would be nice if It would work on my toy poodle but hes to light and it dont. Its the clippers for him!
