I know, they said she was living in a trailer on the property because of all the dogs in her house.

did you look at the slideshow, it looked like what I think a puppymill would look.

I didnt get to see the whole sldeshow as it was taking forvever fpr the pics to load.....but let me say pics #10 & 11....just WOW. Thats when it hits you exaclt how many she had in there.

That is so horrible. I think there is a hoarder not far from us. This house has a fence all the way around with hedge growing on it so you can't really see in the yard that good. I had never noticed it before until one day my husband said,"Have you seen all those little dogs in that yard?" There had to be about 30 or so. Little ones, like chi's and small terriers etc. Thats the only thing we can figure that it might be that. Are people just completely crazy? Those poor little babies.

I think there is a hoarder around here as well. We only drive by once in a while, but when we do there are about 50 or 60 Dalmatians in their yard..

In dallas you can have any number of dogs and cats if you live in a house
this is from the city web site

Number of Animals

Only four dogs, cats, or any combination of dogs or cats are allowed on the premises of a dwelling unit that shares a common wall with another dwelling unit. The City does not limit the number of pets in detached houses.


so as long as they are taken care of you can have as many as you want

Wow, I'm in Corpus (not that far, I was born in Dallas) anyway our limit is 6 per household. Now I'm curious about other cities. Anybody else have no limit?

Ours is either 3 or 4 in NY but it varies with land, so I'm told.

you guys are lucky everywhere else I lived it was 3 here it is 2, more than that and you have to have a kennel license. Maybe that isn't so lucky, ugg living nest to 60 dals would suck, the noise.

My city it's 3 adult dogs, and one litter till 6months, and 3 Cat with one litter till 6 months. Most people here do have more. The lady across from me has 6 dogs.. Don't know if she has cats.

I wasn't sure but I thought Laredos_mom was joking about the dalmatians. It is a horrible shame but then again when you think of how most animal control officers really do care about the animals I can see how a hoarder would find that job attractive and be able to fit in for a while till somebody noticed.

Horders tend not to realize they are horders until its to late. Their not being able to say no to animals is the first part of a long process that is often a mental illness.

They tend not to go and get a job to hord, it is an accidental side effect.

I worked for shelters and SPCA for a long time. We did many rescues like that and here in Texas it runs rampid. The sad part about it is, one the animals suffer but the people that hoard these animals truely care for them and it is a super emotional time for them when they see all there animals taken away. It is usually a cause for a big scene and I feel sorry for someone in that position because they think they are doing the best for these animals and in most cases the owners are taken to the hospital. Its not like shutting down a puppy mill where all the people see is there money leaving. These are people who took this homeless animal home to give it a better life. What they dont see is it is no different than living in a shelter. At least in a shelter there is staff to keep up with the cleaning. Most hoarders live in the worst possible conditions you can think of ( sleeping on a bed that has been peed on numerous times and poo all over where they lay).
In his job position I can see how this guy would start to take home all the dogs he found instead of taking and putting them down. I worked at a city pound and it was a great shelter but we euthanised alot. I ended up quitting due to not being able to kill all those animals and most pit bulls. It causes a great deal of mixed emotions when you are in a job like that. If possible I would have taken about 5 dogs home a day but fortunately I am mentally stable. LOL You look at euthanasia two ways you are relieving an animal of a sad and homeless life or you try and save everything you touch. It is really a sad situation...
