When you go on vacation and bring your pet... Do they keep them somewhere else or can you keep them in the rooms with you?? 'Cause I'm going to Lancaster, PA soon and Toby's coming with us.. So, would I be able to keep him with me in the hotel room?
Hotels rarely accept pets. There's a few branches that do, but it's not like with every hotel. Your dad should have asked the hotel? I know Loewe's is a branch accepting pets. That's where me and my mom would take Max to FL.
First of all you have to make sure to choose a hotel that allows dogs. That link brings up hotels in different cities in PA that allow pets. If you scroll down you'll see a list of hotels in Lancaster. Also, even if they allow dogs some hotels will charge a fee and might have a weight limit so be sure to check on that. Most hotels don't want you to leave your dog alone in the room unless it is crated so be sure to take a crate or kennel to keep him in if you have to leave him alone in the room. I always take Lacy (my yorkie) with me when I travel. Sometimes it's hard to find a nice hotel that allows dogs and doesn't charge you a ton of money so I usually just have to search through the different hotels pet policies. I just stayed at the Hyatt in Austin, TX and they charged $25 per day per dog and were a really dog friendly hotel. Good Luck
Of course where else would they go! LOL. Only allowed in the rooms if it's a dog-friendly hotel. If not you can leave him with your mom or if she's going with you, you can board him in a kennel. But, a good one.
What are you gonna do in PA? I wouldn't even bring him unless you're gonna be doing the whole walking shabang because he's gonna get bored and if your mom can look after him for a few days then it might be easier.
Totally up to you though , I know you never wanna leave them.
As more people travel with their pets, many more hotel chains and smaller inns are allowing animals. We travel with the 2 dogs quite frequently and have enjoyed staying at a few places that are specifically geared towards travel with pets. It's true that most have a rule about leaving dogs loose in the room when unattended, but I've always felt uncomfortable leaving them alone in the room anyway.
Well, one day were going white water rapids, I don't think he'll like that, and -- HOLYSHH--COW! He just snuck right past me and I didn't even notice and sat down in a little ball sleeping right at my feet and I didn't know he was there!! -- Anyway, another day we're going on theis locomotive ting thatll take us the a corn maaze that we have to get out of, and another day well be going.. on horse rides and buggy rides.. soo yeahhh.. DOnt think he'll wanna and its too bad 'cause my mom is coming with us
We take our 2 schnauzers everywhere we go. The best place we have found is Red Roof Inn, they always let pets stay, and there are alot of them when you are traveling. We also have found a few Country Inn & Suites that will alow pets, but they all don't. We never leave our pets alone in the room, I don't trust the workers, or my dogs. They would bark their heads off without us there.
I took Merphy on vacation last year, and had no problems finding dog friendly hotels. We went to Solvang, Monterey and San Francisco. I would check out the hotel you are staying in first. The hotel in Solvang was absolutely beautiful, clean, and dog friendly. I guess that place set the standard for me, because when I got to Monterey, I about cried. The "dog rooms" were across the street from the pretty part of the hotel. They were so dirty, I got sick. But, I think they were renovating. San Francisco was nice and clean. Some hotels charge a nightly fee, and some charge a flat fee per visit.
As for taking the dog with you, I didn't have any problems with taking Merphy anywhere. I had a backpack carrier for him. Shopowners thought it was the cutest thing when they noticed that he was in there. I took him everywhere, except for inside restaurants. What I would do was once we got out of the car, I would let Merphy walk the town or area once, so he got to do some sightseeing too, and then I would put him in the backpack if there were shops I wanted to go in. I think I left him in the hotel twice while I got dinner, I put him in the bathroom with a baby gate, and then put the "Do Not Disturb" sign up.
Hi Toby...we take Zuke everywhere with us, and we usually stay at Holiday Inn Express, nearly all of them allow pets. We never leave him alone, but I have asked about the rule, and they generally just don't want the dog barking the whole time you're gone. As far as tearing everything up, it's your responsibility :)
I put down $100 deposit, that is credited back to me at checkout when they've checked the room for damage. Not such a bad deal when I want my dog with me all the time :)
