This could be a number of things. It may be an allergic reaction to something you use in your house like carpet cleaner, air freshener, Laundry Deturgant(sp?), ect. Like I said he may be having allergic rections to something which is causeing what you explained to be a rash, the rash makes him itchy so he scratches and makes it red, then it might get so irretated that the hair falls off from that spot. Like I said before, it could be a number of things but this is just my main guess. I say if your not happy with the answer your getting from you vet go and get a second opinon from another vet. Hopefully I helped some, but if I didn't there are plenty of smart people on here who might know what this is or who might've had this same problem. Best of luck! I'll be praying for your little one to have a speedy recovery!
Did you change his food recently? Did he eat something out side you don't know off? It could be a number of things. Like, did you change the shampoo, or did you put something on his coat you're not use to putting? Try to retract your steps on things you may have changed. Also try going where you took him for a walk if you have a yard and see if there are any unusuall things on the floor like something dead or what not.
What did the Vet say? You could also go online to petmeds.com and look for any medication for the type of sour like maybe you could also use Benadril on the sour, it helps as well. Or some type of medicine we use to cure moskito bites and such. I hope I help you some.
..but i always make sure that he stays and play in a clean area...my mom at first actually didnt know that bathing a puppy everyday is a no-no...maybe thats also effect of dry skin but now she knows so she doesnt do it anymore..but those lumps in his back are a little hard and many he cant reach for it to scratch but still patches of hair are shedding...i think i really need at least 3 vets option about this matter..thank u daphne i really needed people like u to listen and care about these cute and loving pups..: )
..i did changed his food recently but b4 i changed it he already had this skin problems,i dont really let him play outdoors coz i dont want him to catch anything so most of the time he plays inside the house...but i remeber this one thing when my mom put on a baby cologne on him and at first wont listen to me not to bathe him everyday ..well anywys the vet syas maybe its only a reaction from the weather and its just a minor allergy ..but still she recommended to change the shampoo to a more medicated one...thank u Bekah i appreciate u commenting bout this matter..: )
Your vet should be able to take a skin scraping and determine if its demodectic mange. Do you think it could be ringworm? Or, maybe just hot spots? The bumps doesn't sound right, then the hair falling out and red patches. I would go to another vet if I wasn't getting satisfactory answers or results for my baby. I love your screen name. I had a beautiful Pomeranian in the 80's and her name was Brown Sugar, and seeing you on here made me think of her. Good luck finding the problem and keep us updated.
..well right now all im using for his skin problem is a medicated shampoo the one that the vet prescribe because she told me its just a minor allergy but that was stiil last week ago ...she havent seen the bumps and the hair loss patches now...i didnt went to the vet soon coz im observing if the prescribed shampoo will lessen the allergies and hopefully get it all out....thanx yorkiemon
Get yourself a bag of the Z/D Ultra, and feed only that food, no treats or anything. Keep the dog on it for 6 weeks and see if there is an improvement. Ozzy gets the exact symptoms, but not on the Z/D Ultra, hes a French Bulldog. Its only sold through the Veterinarian.
...hows ozzy now?before u havent fed him with z/d ultra what did the vet said...what kind of allergy is it??ill try to look for the z/d ultra and give it to my baby and hopefully have the same effect on him...:)..thank u sue
