We recently bought this puppy for our son at local kennel. It turned out that he has the canine flu. We took him to the vet and they tested his blood. The results were that his PCV is 18%,thus very low. The puppy won't eat and sleeps the whole day. I'm desperate..anyone can give us some advice on how to make the puppy eat. We're afraid he won't survive.
with a pcv of 18 your dog should be hospitalized and possibly be receiving a blood transfusion. this is not a joke. i do not understand why he is home with you and not being treated at the vet hospital.
After a couple of days from giving him Nuti-cal, his appetite finally came back, but his flu just won't go away. He has mucous coming out of his nose. The vet gave him a 10 day treatment and we hope he recover completely.
Hey everyone I'm new here. I used to have a bordie collie that got very sick. She stopped eating, but may dad and I hand feed her rice and gravy... it took a couple weeks of us forcing her to eat but then she began to eat out of our hands. You might want to try something thats not very hard to digest, thats what are vet told us, bc it might be to rough on her stomach. Good luck with everything I hope your puppy gets better soon
I have bad news, today the vet had to put Scott to sleep. He never recuperated from the kennel cough. It had gotten worse and was suffering so much. This is so sad, especially for my four year old son who got so attached to the puppy.
I'm so sorry, I dont think that your dog had a normal version of kennel cough though> I've never heard of it being a deadly disease, it's usually coronavirus or parvovirus that are the deadly ones. My thoughts are with you through this tough time =(
Aww... get well, puppy! Get something real flavorful: like boiled chicken breast, and gren beans. Or even ice cream, the sugar otta give him an extra boost. Good luck! ---Allie the Chihuahua is mine!!! http://www.dogster.com/?41063 Wanna be pup pals?
