Right now Bailey is using a harness for her potty breaks.
since she is so small and still a puppy, I didn't want to keep using a collar. I heard that it can crush their throat area causing damage to them. Is this true and is there any harm in collars?
I find all kinds of neat looking collars but never any harnesses. Not looking for anything too girly (my "tough" lol boyfriend won't have any of that). I just would like to find something more spunky and fun.
She sometimes pulls, and then sometimes you are pulling her. She pulls the most when people or dogs pass by. She wants to climb on top of anything that comes by. I have to keep her back, some of the dog's owners around here don't like it. I understand, but Bailey is just being friendly and hasn't learned that it isn't nice to climb on other animals.
Puppy classes here we come (as soon as she is old enough and gets shots finished)
Oh that is another question I have, does she just have to have her first 2 shots before we can go to puppy classes, or should I wait for all of them to be done?
Petsmart said just 2, haven't asked vet yet. not going to petsmart but just asked them about it.
What kind of dog is Bailey? I have a yorkie (Rocco) with a mind of his own,so I use a velcro harness the minimizes the pulling around the neck. I will find the site where I got it from and post it for you. Here is is.I have the orange one. http://go.fetch.home.comcast.net:/
I went to site, they would fit now but she is going to get anywhere from 15 - 25 lbs. prob go with collar when she gets bigger. I really like the harnesses. She is only 5 1/2 lbs now, prob bigger, she is growing fast.

I really like those ones. That would be great to get for her. I just wish they had ones that weren't soo colorfull.
I would like one that was maybe black with white and blue bones, or pink bones. Something not so bright. I do like the blue pattern with the yellow sun, as well as the doggie one. Maybe I will get one when I walk and take her out. since I am the one with her most of the day lol.
I just know my boyfriend (her daddy) wants her to be more of a tough girl, but not to tough ( he doesn't push her around or anything like that, actually calls her his princess, he just doesn't want to dress her that way). It makes me laugh to listen to his nonsense sometimes.
any other sites people can recommend?
thanks a bunch. I have only found nylon ones around here but I am searching the net with no luck so far.
look for rogz they make some neat ones, you can get leash collar and harness matching sets. I have the yellow daiseys for my girl. Theya have black with barbwire print, manly huh, lots of colors and pics.
When you take bailey in for training I can pretty much guarantee you they are not going to let you use a harness for training sessions. Personally I don't like harnesses because there is no correction, it actually encourages a dog to pull more and non-stop. Conversely you can teach a dog not to pull by using a collar.
Why not take a trip to your Hobby Lobby and get some studs to apply to the harness and jazz it up your self? Ask the employees there for suggestions and you never know, you may start your own line of fancy harnesses...
I have trained my dog (cavalier) while always on a harness. Not only is it healthier for the dog by reducing the risk of colapsed tracheas (and other neck issues), but it also helps remind the handler that negative inforcement during training isnt the best way to go. It can sometimes be too easy to give that collar a jerk to get the dogs attention rather than using more positive techniques.
If you're looking for a cute harness with different colors and styles, consider searching for Puppia Harnesses.
Crazy......LOL LOL It just dawned on me.....girl you have been bit......bit girl lol see you were not bonding and now girlfriend you want to spice up a collar! LOL Don't feel bad it happens to all of us (Me too!) ~ Dee
