Well, the ants have gotten into Mia's dog food container! This has *never* happened before. We have always had ants during the summer...But the 'air tight' seal on the container I bought for his food has kept them out.
NOT this time! I hate these little creatures....There must have been 100's inside crawling around his food....
My question is~ How do you all store your dogs food? I bet most use a container, right? I have it in a zip lock bag right now, inside of another container. It seems to be working all right at keeping them out...But how odd, food in a bag - in a container!
There's got to be an easier way......... What do you all do? I'm bound to be succesful at, at least one of your ways!
What my mom does is she bags the dog and cat food and freezes it, and takes out certain amounts for the week and keeps it in the fridge in smaller bags.We do have ants but its never really been a problem. So why she does this I don't know.
Outside we keep the food in a big metal trashcan and the extra food stays in an old refrigerator. The trashcan holds about 100lbs. of dog food and we have yet to have ants in it. I heard from someone that ants can't climb metal, but I've never known whether this was true or not. Anybody?
