Hi everyone, I really need some advice. Last week thursday I noticed blood in my 4 mth pommies poop so I called and took him to the vet they found nothing, said it was probably a small rip in his anal sac healing. On sunday he still had small traces in his poop and then he threw up(his first time since I've had him), so I rushed him to the vet again. They took another fecel sample still insisting nothing wrong but just to be sure perscribed him Metronidazole to help ease him tummy for 7 days. Well today is the 7th day and now he has diarria(sp) and just threw up again. What could be wrong, he no longer has blood in his poop but I'm worried should I see the vet again? Im scared dont know why he's viomiting..
Well no, he's not sluggish he's still very energetic and playful; he has been on the same food for the last 2mths. I just don't like the viomiting and on the last day of the medication and the fact that now he's pooping all over very loosely. I don't want to go to the vet and the tell its nothing for the 3rd time. I payed $120 for him to tell me that the 1st time. Money is not the problem I just want to be surw there's a reason to rush him there again today... Please any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance:)..
Is he constantly throwing up or just once today and now he feels better?
What kind of food are you feeding him? We put Georgie on a Lamb & Rice food when she did that as a puppy. She was eating Eukanuba before that. Our vet suggested keeping a small breed on varieties of chicken, lamb or other lower fat foods.
I would call your vet's office and talk to them to see if you should go in.
You should look up that medicine that the vet prescribed-maybe it ic causing the vomiting? Maybe it should be given with food? I have had that happen before, so just thought I would mention it. If you have stayed current on your vaccines, it shouldn't be parvo.
Hate to disagree on the parvo thing. I have a six year old English Setter who is from a good breeder (did my research!). His entire litter had their vaccines and so did the mother. The entire litter got parvo! Nothing is 100%. Vomiting and diarrhea in puppies can be very serious. That is why if there is lethargy I would go to the vet immediately.
The same thing happened to Laredo. He had a little blood in his stool, and threw up once. We rushed him to the emergency vet and he said he had CoronaVirus. It turned out that our old vet didn't give him all his shots, but said he did.
SO, Laredo go sick. The Em. vet put him on fluids right away and Laredo had to stay over night. With your puppy being so small, and throwing up and blood in his stool, things can go downhill fast. You might want to try to take him to another vet?
