you have a beautiful family. I am pretty stoked on the whole thing. I am so happy. The wife defintly gets ALL of the credit. 9 mos of pregnancy. 8 hours into labor kelly's heart rate fell dramaitcaly. the went for the c-section. I swear i have been in some intese situations in my life. I have been a rescue swimmer for 3 years now. I have delivierd a baby, dealt with a boat on fire, multiple sinking vessels, people in the water. countless medical evacuations, and the big one, I once had to cut a man out of fishing gear on the deck of boat. he got caught in it and it drug him in to a drum and wrapped him up in it.this was a commercial boat. Never ever in my life have I felt panic like I did when they wheeled beth out of the room.
Thing is....no matter HOW old they are, they are still your kids. I look at them like kids. Not sure if my parents do the same to me or worry as much as I do. Hitting 18 means nothing....we still worry!
"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." Elizabeth Stone
I did ok though and I know I am blessed. My oldest son is in the Navy. My oldest daughter is almost an RN.
My younger two are polite and caring and all of them have a wicked, twisted sense of humor. They are the greatest thing I have ever done.
Having a baby is just the beginning....the joys will never stop.
I know what you mean about stress with the labor and worrying about the little one. As a paramedic, I dreaded *kid calls*. I was always relieved to hear em crying when I got there! I have delivered a preemie (didnt make it) and had my share of kid calls that didnt turn out the way I thought they should. Seeing life is so fragile, you will go home and hug your child often and thank God he is safe at nite after a bad day.
Your child is lucky to grow up with dogs as well. My bullies love my kids. They are totally different when my kids are around and at times, I feel like they are cheated when they are not with my kids. They always go and lay in my daughters bedroom on her bed, totally languishing and depressed when they are at their dads. I feel like chopped liver.
I get no greater joy than watching the dogs sit and carry off their leggos, toys , chew on their pencils as they try to do homework or letting the kids dress them up. The kids can call them and they come running. With me, its if *they feel like it!*.
Take good care of your wife! Nothin is sexier than a man who will give her an hr to herself once in a while and tend to the youngin!!
Congradulations. One thing to remember is that ole' saying, When they are young they step on your toes, when they are older they step on your heart, is so true. You never quit worrying about them no matter how old they are. Enjoy every moment because time goes by so fast.
