Now, I've been volunteering in shelters every week for the last 5 years. I've seen every cat under the sun, with all the good and the bad healthwise and behaviorwise. I've heard most of the arguements. However, while it will take me some time to find the studies that show various behavior problems are linked to declawing, I can disprove some of your arguments right now...like the one "declawing isn't detoeing."
Please see: www.declawing.com and click on technical facts. Really--we're not making this stuff up! I'm against declawing because its physically & psychologically damaging for cats AND COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY!! *There are also links to "soft paws" caps mentioned above. Great product.
But don't worry, I've gained a lot of patience working with people that come into my shelters! :) I know most people, unfortunately, aren't explained the realities of de-toeing and its consequences. That's what this forum's about: learning. I've learned tons here, so thanks everybody.
