My boyfriend Joe's birthday is coming up, and I want to get him a puppy because he said that one day he wanted one, seriously. I already have 3 one year old black labradors, a 1 year old daughter named Emma, and I am 8 months pregnant with a girl. Oh, and we also have 3 fish, but they're Emma's. I was thinking about another labrador, or a big dog like that. I don't want a small dog because I don't want to upset anybody but their yapping annoys me. If anybody has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
Just because he said that one day he wanted one, doesn't mean it's the right time, I would talk to him, and ask him if he is ready at this moment, and let him decide on the breed, he may not want another lab, and may I just say WOW you have got your hands full. Good Luck!
i would look together on this . go to differant shelters or pet shops then he can chose what he wants. just let him know that you are thinking about getting him a pet and would like for him to pick it out.
Thanks for your advice you guys! I talked to him and he said he was really ready, and we decided to go out tomorrow to the shelters and try to find the right one. If you want to know the truth, my hands may be full, but I'm ready for anything, anything that I can love and care for that will love and care for me when I'm old, sick, and lonely, which I don't think I will be looking at what I have right now! I'll write back tomorrow...
I'd also say ask him about it..I've mentioned while I was still with my fiance that I'd like another puppy...so without asking me he brought home another gsd puppy..of course I loved him..he was really my ex's dog though..we kept him for a year but my ex fiance gave him to the seargent of our county to be on the K-9 Squad before he left me and moved out. Point being, a dog is a commitment you both have to be ready and sure about.

So we went to the shelters, pounds, adoption centers and all and found this beautiful 1 and a half year old dalmation. We took her and decided that for now, a dog already trained and everything would work out, and if things don't work out, my sister is looking for a dog. I doubt that things wouldn't work out. Anyway, we named HER (yes I know, another girl) Tasha. Tasha is doing well with my other babies and plays soflty with Emma. Emma follows Tasha everywhere and if Tasha leaves to go outside, she won't leave the window! Joe is happy too. We took all the dogs out for a walk and Joe threw sticks so that they could fetch, Tasha is very energetic. Tasha had been abandoned when she was 4 months old, and has been at that adoption center since then. That's one reason why we decided to take her, then those eyes of hers got to us too... Tasha also knows most commands a typical dog knows, fetch, sit, lie down, roll over, paw, speak (which we never use), stay, free, jump (same with that one) and go to bed which I didn't even know she knew until I said it. She also knows one that isn't in the book, go get your baby. If you tell her that, she'll go get a little blanket that she's had forever, and one of Emma's dolls that she gave to her comes after the blanket. You should see it, it's really cute! All the dogs are barking right now for their food behind the screen door, so I have to go, but I'll come back soon!
