I don't think I will stray too far from home this vacation. It almost killed me last year to be away from the dogs for 3 weeks. You may remember that I nearly came home after the first week in Texas.
Just brought Daisy (Shih-tzu) to the groomers this afternoon. I was going to let her hair grow, as the people that own her daughter have her hair longer, but got tired of that idea. She loves to run and play out in the yard and I got tired of picking out the little weeds and sticks that she picked up in her long hair. So she will get a puppy cut and be done for the rest of the summer. Maybe this winter, when the snow blankets the ground, we will go for a longer cut.
Tyke (Japanese Chin) is doing well, he had emergency surgery this spring. Seems he got into a chicken or turkey bone on one of his trips outside, I'm thinking someone tossed it over the fence, thinking they were "feeding" the dogs. Well, needless to say, cooked turkey or chicken bones splinter and once it got to his stomach, it started causing troubles.
It was pitiful, he'd cry when he moved, even if no one was touching him. I took him in and they had to put him under for xrays, since he was in too much pain to stretch out and relax for clear xrays. The vet called me right away and said he needs surgery NOW.
Thanks to God, he pulled through yet another traumatic experience. He was a sore puppy for quite some time, but healed up well and is back to his old boucey self. I've got more money in that dog now, than in my car. But I wouldn't trade him for the world, he is so much company.
Spotty (Dalmatian) is doing well, she likes to spend her time outdoors in the summer, you almost have to drag her indoors to sleep now. I kept her indoors during that extremely hot weather and just put her outside during the night to take care of business. Hope we are done with that weather for awhile now.
